This is regarding my pitbull mix. For the last few days, her hair has been shedding like crazy.. I have also noticed these (click link for pics) scabs and pink spots especially around hind legs and neck area. She has always been allergic to almost anything (grass, treats, her bed etc etc) and have broken out in hives before. However this time, there are no hives, just tremondous amount of hair shedding and those pink spots I have mentioned. She is eating regularly (recently switched to timberwolf ocean blue formula due to her allergies), energy is normal and does not seem to be in any pain. I will be taking her to a vet in couple of days but can any of you shed any light on this? I am also wondering do pitbulls shed hair during changing of seasons? I'm afraid she is gonna have no hair left at this rate! Could this be a mange of some kind? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Every month, we have to battle with our dog to get her Frontline/Advantix flea and tick medicine on. We've tried everything--coaxing her with treats, trying to hold her still while we squirt the medicine on her back, sneak attacking her . . everything. But she's absolutely terrified -- she'll run away when she sees the medicine. When we try holding her, she's squirming so much that it hurts both the person holding her and herself. And she's big enough that she's definitely not easy to hold down (she's over 50 lbs).

I'm at a loss. What's the best way to teach her the medicine won't hurt her? And the best way to put it on? Thanks for any tips.

My German Shepherd is having only one puppy, is it normal that they have one puppy, and if so will there be any complications? A vet told me that she was gonna have to deliver the puppy on a certain day for the sake of the puppy.. is she trying to make a quick buck or is it true? What could go wrong if I just let her do it on her own?

Hello everyone. My wife and I have this disagreement. We have a little Yorkie and my wife wants it to sleep in the bed with us. However, I told her that it's a bad habit for the dog. Can anyone give me some input. Thanks!

Okay, feel free to laugh because it is kind of funny but it is very puzzling behavior. I have been coming home over my lunch break and doing Pilates for about two years. Every time I do, Molly, my cat getting extremely irritated and will bite, kick and lunge at me. Sometimes she is just playing around but most of the time she looks really upset and I usually just put her downstairs until I am finished. Molly is an extremely mellow cat otherwise and I am her favorite human in the house. She hardly ever makes a sound and I have two daughters that play with her all the time and she never seems phased by them and she is a happy sociable cat - why does Pilates stir up such anger in my kitty?

Ok, here's the story...

A skunk with rabies happened to be wandering around my cousin's backyard, so the skunk got into a fight with my cousin's dog. He ended up biting and clawing the dog and now he has a 99% chance of having rabies, but he's going to be quarrantined for 6 months to see if he 100% has it. What really makes me mad is now the Animal Control is picking on my cousin's kittens who were safe in the garage and weren't near the skunk, and now they're going to put all of the kittens and cat to sleep. They're not even going to allow for the kittens to be quarrintened. They already captured 3 out of 5 of the cats and they plan on putting them to sleep tommorow. Is there anyway me or my cousin could stop this inhumane act?! I would greatly appreciate any well thought out answers!

I just got two rats. Ive never owned a rat before. Somtimes they will just start scratching themselves like somthing has bit them. I know its normal for animals to scratch themselves. I have had dogs that have gotten fleas and they scratch themselves in the same way. They will act normal and then all of a sudden start scratching one spot repeatedly. Is it normal for a rat to do this ? They already have fidgety movements so is this how the itch themselves ? Is it possible for them to get any kind of bugs ?

I have a juvenille bearded dragon and in addition to feeding him crickets daily, I offer him veggies (collard greens, squash, etc). Can I freeze chopped veggies to help them last longer so that I do not have to cut fresh veggies daily? If so, how long can I freeze them for? Any other methods people use to store and keep cut veggies longer?

Thanks!

I always thought the food I fed my dogs was of decent quality, but I checked out www.dogfoodanalysis.com someone had posted. Turns out my dogs' food is only one star. :(

Where do you buy your top-quality food? (I noticed Innova and Canidae are popular choices...so food like that.)

If the food is not specifically marked for "large breeds," is there anything in particular on the ingredient list that large breeds really need or something I need to steer clear of?

I also noticed many of the good foods had garlic on their ingredient list...is this not a concern?

Finally, can you just give me a price estimate for how much you pay for your good food...you don't have to tell me the specific brand. (ex. $30 for a 40lb. bag)

Sorry...lots of questions...enlighten me!

I'm still wondering if you anyone can tell me how soon my dog will start to have her puppies.I just brought her in side so that she would have a nice place to have the puppies.I have noticed that she does have milk and also she was digging a hole..But since I have brought her in the house she will not lay for very long she keeps walking around. But then if I would take her out side she seems to be fine.
