She is running a temperature. My husband gave her some stale chocolates two days ago. Could that be the reason?

She's running a temperature as in what?? She should be approx 102.3.. How much higher is her temp than that?? How come your husband would give the dog stale chocolate?? That's seems a little odd.. doesn't he know it's poison ??? If the dog is sick, and doing more than just a slightly elevated temperature you should call the vet..
Oooppss What i meant to say was
Don't worry.. Your husband knows better than the silly old vet, if he feels it's okay to give the dog stale old crappy chocolate, then who is anyone to question him.. Maybe he wants to kill your dog??
It's possible that the dog is allergic to your husband.. Call the vet and see if he recommends Benedryl for a husband allergy.

Chocolate can kill a dog. And "stale" chocolates? That could make a human sick... now take a being that shouldnt even have it in the first place.. that could be doubly dangerous.
I havent read the others answers yet, but Im sure they have all saud VET! which they would be correct.

How do you know she has a temperature? The normal temp for a dog is 102. Is she acting weird or not eating? Chocolate is bad but doubt that's the problem, she would have been dead in a day if it were the chocolate. Chocolate is dangerous because it causes the heart to beat to fast and the dog has a heart attack.

You should never give a dog chocolate, especially dark chocolate. It is poisonous to them. The temperature could be a reaction to the chocolate. I would take your dog to the vet as soon as you can.

Yes, chocolate is poisonous to dogs. I don't think she is running a fever though, all dogs are warm. My dog got into a box of chocolate on Valentines Day, she was fine. Don't freak out, just call your vet and ask for the some signs that she could be sick. I think she will be fine. Best wishes.

That is highly likely the answer. Chocolate is like poison to dogs!! The the first signs of chocolate poisoning are vomiting and diarrhea, increased urination and nausea. These can progress to cardiac arrhythmias and seizures. If your dog eats potentially dangerous amounts of chocolate and you can get the pet to your vet within two hours, vomiting can be induced to remove the poison. If longer than two hours has passed (which has), the animal will need to be seen and treated.
Please take her to the vet ASAP.... and then smack your husband :P!

WE ALL HAVE A TEMPERATURE, BUT SHE MAY HAVE A FEVER. I MAYBE WRONG BUT I DONT THINK CHOCOLATES (STALE OR OTHERWISE) SHOULD BE FED TO A DOG. CALL A VET AND TALK W/ THE NURSE THERE. THERE MAYBE SOME HELP ON THE INTERNET SEARCH UNDER VARIOUS HEADINGS.

If you know that your dog is sick and you know that she ate chocolate, then it is time to get to a 24 hour Vet. Get the package for the chocolate and bring that to the Vet.
Chocolate can destroy the liver and kidneys, and kill small to medium dogs. Go now...

Whether that's the cause or not, giving chocolate to dogs is a very bad idea. They can't metabolize it, and it is toxic to them.
Take your dog to the vet ASAP if it has a temperature.
