Okay, feel free to laugh because it is kind of funny but it is very puzzling behavior. I have been coming home over my lunch break and doing Pilates for about two years. Every time I do, Molly, my cat getting extremely irritated and will bite, kick and lunge at me. Sometimes she is just playing around but most of the time she looks really upset and I usually just put her downstairs until I am finished. Molly is an extremely mellow cat otherwise and I am her favorite human in the house. She hardly ever makes a sound and I have two daughters that play with her all the time and she never seems phased by them and she is a happy sociable cat - why does Pilates stir up such anger in my kitty?

LOL! I love the comment that Pilates is annoying because I agree! Nothing makes me feel like a bigger goon than doing them, that is why I go home where no one else is around (except Molly). I do them because I am a 30 year old mother of two with toned abs...pretty sure Pilates helped with that! :)

You're busy with your Pilate's and not paying any attention to her. You're concentrating and maybe she thinks you're doing something wrong.

My cat would jump on my head whenever I tried to do any kind of exercise that involved sitting on the floor. If my hair had been longer, maybe that was what had attracted her, but I never did find out why. Usually she was very mellow but just didn't like humans to exercise. So I just put her away, did my thing and then let her out afterwards and gave her a treat. Worked out fine. Who knows what lurks in the mind of a kitty?

You may be unconsciously giving out feline body posture signals. Which specific motions/positions trigger her attacks?

My brother's dog would whine and act real worried if any person lay on the floor. He would try to get them to get up. I think it upset his view of things.

My cat will bite me (not hard, but carefully) if I whistle.

Cats tend to like the other animals (including you) in the universe to act consistently, and inconsistency often makes them so upset they attack.

Your cat is just expressing, with no inhibitions, what other people are thinking -- pilate's is annoying.
