Ok, here's the story...

A skunk with rabies happened to be wandering around my cousin's backyard, so the skunk got into a fight with my cousin's dog. He ended up biting and clawing the dog and now he has a 99% chance of having rabies, but he's going to be quarrantined for 6 months to see if he 100% has it. What really makes me mad is now the Animal Control is picking on my cousin's kittens who were safe in the garage and weren't near the skunk, and now they're going to put all of the kittens and cat to sleep. They're not even going to allow for the kittens to be quarrintened. They already captured 3 out of 5 of the cats and they plan on putting them to sleep tommorow. Is there anyway me or my cousin could stop this inhumane act?! I would greatly appreciate any well thought out answers!

Too late. Animal control already murdered 3 out of the 5 cats. The rest of the pets are gonna be quarrantined.

Well, first of all, all skunks don't necessarily have rabies. Was it nighttime? During the day? I think your cousin really needs to put up a stink...no pun intended. This is totally wrong an unreasonable. Your cousin should get in touch with City Hall or the Town Clerk. I think he should fight this all the way. I wish I had an answer, he just needs to fight it. I like the answer above mine....call the media!

So,I guess the dog and cat didn't have their rabies shots? It's too bad.The kittens and cat should be able to be quarantined as well as the dog.I don't know what to tell you except that this just shows you how important it is to get your pets vaccinated and spayed or neutered. If the cat had been spayed and vaccinated, there would be no kittens being killed and no worry of rabies, and the dog would be safe as well if it had been vaccinated. It's a shame.I hope you can do something to convince them to let the cats live.

I would alert the local media -- seriously. Call the local television news. They usually have someone who does community stories like this. If you can catch the cats yourself and move them to a place where Animal Control can't get to them, I'd try that, too.

Were the pets vaccinated against rabies? If they were, animal control would not be taking the pets.

You should go to your state's attorney office first thing in the morning. Tell him/her what is going on and maybe they can help you. I wish you good luck:)
