Pets - 20 June 2007

My somewhat overweight female kitty, 2-3 years old, seems to not be using the litterbox--the last time was at least 8 hours ago.

We noticed that she seemed to be walking a little gingerly--staggering slightly--at one point this afternoon but she generally seems active, playing, etc. Doesn't seem tender that we can tell.

May be drinking a lot, perhaps not eating as much as she usually does. She eats diet dry kibble and a little wet food every day.

How long should we wait before making a vet appointment, and/or taking her to the emergency vet? Thanks.

I have a tube that states it is for a 40 pound dog, but would it be ok if I only use a few drops on my 8 pound puppy? I know I can't use the whole tube.

We have an open field behind our house and last night I discovered my Bichon (at night) with a mouse hanging out of her mouth. She wasn't eating it, just holding it. It's neck was cut open.

Until tonight, I thought she chased off another animal who had done that to the mouse. Tonight I caught her pouncing on and chasing another mouse through our yard.

I have three dogs that love to spend time outside. How can I deter the mouse hunting (I want to make sure she doesn't eat it) without having to be present 24/7?

Also, my Bichon is really sweet and loves all animals. She's played with cats and even ginea pigs before so I don't understand this behavior. She completely ignores the rabbits in the yard. .........

HELP!

I've tried to look up on this online and in the book I'm reading about rabbits but I can't find anything.... I recently switched from feeding my bunny pellets and alfalfa hay to fresh broccoli, parsley and a baby carrot or two. Now his stool is really small and very dark (almost black) and smelly.... is he ok? is that bad? what is it? is it just the diet?....and he is about 4 months old. I need help please.

I added a spotted green puffer & 6 mollies to my 55 gallon tank this past Saturday (June 16). The other day, one of my albino cory cats came up missing.....Found him yesterday almost completely eaten!!! I have the tetraodon nigrovidis not the tetraodon fluviatilis, which is the venomous one to my understanding.

Today, my sucker fish is dead. :( I fed them and saw my sucker swimming along the bottom. An hour later, I found my sucker dead with his sucker eaten OFF and his eyes eaten too. :(

I've NEVER seen my puffer snip at any of my fish. I've seen the mollies chase a few around, but not enough to hurt any. Everytime I feed the fish, the puffer stays away. In fact, I haven't noticed him eating at all......Do you think that the puffer is the one killing my other fish or could it be the mollies? Everything was peaceful in my tank until they came along. :(

I know almost all calico cats are female, but i've never heard of any other coloring associate with gender. also in talking about this my coworker said tortoise shell colored cats are sterile. Anyone know of the truth to these?

my mom said that i wasnt taking care of my dog pebbles, the thing is that i do it's just that we're in the process of moving so we kind of put her off a bit. i love her and i would kill to have her back but i can't i've been crying ever since and my dad says we can't get another one. My cat has diarreha and vomits occasionally. I dont know if the vomiting is due to hairballs or not, but I have tried to buy some hair ball reducing treats for it, and often take it outside to eat some grass to see if it helps with digest. But for the diarreha i dont know what to do. I heard the pet food science diet was quiet good, but i dont know which kind i should buy. Can anyone help? Thanks alot!!

I brought the kittens home from the landfill, where I work, I cleaned them up and am trying plump them up and get them used to people so I can find them homes. Anyways I already have 2 cats so my dog is used to cats and gets along with them. She is a female lab spayed. I just have never seen her like this before, she won't listen to me when I tell her to go away when I'm holding them and she sits and stares at them in their pen. The kittens arent afraid of her and just let her lick them, they seem to like it even when she pushes them with her mouth during these baths she is giving them. The kittens are roughly 5-6 weeks.
