I brought the kittens home from the landfill, where I work, I cleaned them up and am trying plump them up and get them used to people so I can find them homes. Anyways I already have 2 cats so my dog is used to cats and gets along with them. She is a female lab spayed. I just have never seen her like this before, she won't listen to me when I tell her to go away when I'm holding them and she sits and stares at them in their pen. The kittens arent afraid of her and just let her lick them, they seem to like it even when she pushes them with her mouth during these baths she is giving them. The kittens are roughly 5-6 weeks.

She has the instincts of a natural mother spayed or not!
My spayed collie use to clean primp and wash her baby brothers and sisters. The breeding female was a witch who pushed the pups away at 3 weeks, then her daughter took over with snuggling, cleaning and lots of love. Some of us are just meant to breed, some of us are not!
Let her love and clean them, BUT expect she will suffer when you separate them from her in a few weeks. She does not care that they are kittens!!!!!!!

that is type of previous with the aid of freak out now, do no longer you think of ? For what its properly worth, a dogs's mouth is a lot cleanser than any human mouth. Ask any regular practitioner what the worst chew is for an infection, cat ,dogs or human, and the respond is often human ! i understand, having been bitten a number of cases. as quickly as with the help of a individual, 4 cases with the help of a cat, as quickly as with the help of a dogs and a horse too. basically the cat bites became contaminated. The human chew develop into, luckily, minor. I admit that's kind of gross that the dogs chews your underclothes, yet whilst it develop into going to have any ill result it would have occurred long when you consider that. And basically for activity, the place do you keep your toothbrushes ? in the event that they're interior ten ft of your bathroom and that's ever flushed with the lid up, your toothbrushes have been contaminated with bathroom water. in case you think of i'm kidding, basically seem it up, that is been examined and shown. safer to maintain the toothbrush interior the front room ! So whether you may had her brush her enamel, I doubt it would make lots enormous difference. young little ones are resilient.. maximum have eaten some airborne dirt and dirt and survived. do no longer concern lots.

I have had several dogs, both male and female that have 'adopted' kittens and just want to mother them. My Yorkie actually gets in the box with kittens and washes their little butts. When the kittens get older and start getting out of the bos, she tries to round them all up and put them back into the box. She worries over them as ifthey are hers. It is quite common.

It sounds like she has taken quite a liking to these kittens. From what you are describing it sounds like she has decided that these kittens are her kittens and she needs to care for them. I wouldn't see a problem with letting her 'take care' of the kittens while you are in the room, but I wouldn't leave them unattended. Kittens have this penchant for getting in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It sounds to me as though she is trying to mother them. I have a male great dane mix who is "nanny" to puppies and kittens we bottle feed. He cleans them and does the "potty duty" chores! As long as she isn't hurting them, I wouldn't worry. The stimulation is good for them.
