hi I have an 11mnth old kitten that we suspect has a UTI I took a sample of her wee to the vets yesterday and they asked to see her so have an appointment later today.
she has stopped drinking and is only eating small amounts but this wont help as her food is dry she wont touch wet nemore. I started drip feeding her with water yesterday evening little and often to keep her fluids up but then went to bed bout 11pm. dog woke me up at 2.45am and I checked on cat she was very hot and dehydrated (phoned emergency vet for advice and they agreed for me to carry on with the drip feeding and told me how much how often so I have stayed up with her since)
just wondering if there we any advice here for natural aids/complementary treatments? I have got her cranberry treats for cats/kittens.
just to let u know she has had a very hard time since i rescued her with my ex... v. sickly on and off many antibiotics for unknown infect, collitis and earlier this week carbon monoxide poisoning :-(

I have adopted this orphaned kitten, who had been living outside in the rain in a box. When I got her 5 days ago, she was starving and she didn't even know how to walk because she had never been outside the tiny box. We are now bottle-feeding her, and she is starting to eat out of a dish, and we have gotten rid of her fleas. My question is concerning how to get her to start using a litter box. She spends quite a bit of time under the couch, so I am thinking she might be using my carpet as a toilet. I put her in the litter box all the time. I show her how to use her little paws to dig ("Look how much fun digging is!"), but she just isn't getting the hint so far. In fact, she usually gets litter in her eyes and then I have to hold her paws and rinse out her eyes, which is no fun for either of us. Does anyone have any tips on how to potty train a kitten this young? Do I just keep putting her in there after she eats and every hour or so? Thanks!

Cats do not need to be in heat to get pregnant, they can mate THEN ovulate and get pregnant.

Hey guys~

I recently obtained a betta from a roommate who decided she didn't want to care for it anymore, and I'd like to move him from his 1 gallon bowl to a larger tank (maybe around 5-10 gallons). I know it's not really necessary, but I just want to make him happy, you know? ^_^

So, my fish expert friends, what can I do to make sure the stress of switching environments doesn't kill the little guy? Any tips or tricks for me?

My almost 13 year old daughter wants to have a kitten that someone is giving away and we already have two cats that are both fixed. We are on a tight budget and the cats we have now need to go for their annual shots next month so I really can't afford a third at this time.

Should I make my daughter pay the medical and kitten food costs for this new kitten that she wants so bad? She receives a monthly allowance so she should be able to afford the food, but I wasn't sure if it was right for her to pay the medical (shots)?

Thank you

if anyone here has experience with turtles this young it would help me alot if i had some questions answered.

do turtles need there heaters on all the time or only when you feed them? and is it ok if i put my turtle outside in the sun with shade instead of purchasing a lighting device? and is it ok if i feed it a little bit of food each day instead of feeding it every other day. and how much food should i feed it.

So, my friend looked after the class crawdads back in elementary school, and one morning when we checked on them it looked like one had exploded. There were two live crawdads left in the pool and then tons a little floating bits and mush, from the third.

I'm just wondering - is this something that goes wrong with crawdads often? And did it really explode? I just remembered this and was hoping somebody could explain what went on. Thanks!

There's a "bubble" looking tissue hanging on it's body; is this an "egg" sac waiting to be released? or it's some kind of a fungal infection? ; or if it doesn't lay eggs- do the babies come out from it's body (from the sac clinging to the fish)?

My betta fry hatched 4 days ago...as i learned on the internet, it's better to have a batch of betta fry foods ready once they are free swimming already. I've been very diligent in feeding them. I have microworm culture ready and some infusoria for back up. the problem is, they don't seem to be eating/feeding at all. i can see a few that wander about, searching for food and gobbles up the first squiglging microworm they see...but for the most of the fry, they just stay together as a group in 1 corner or stay at the surface of the water, and won't budge even w/ microworms squggling nearby...is this normal or something's wrong w/ them?

I have an indoor/outdoor cat, spayed and declawed. She stays outside most of the summer. She loves to sit on my car but I hate the cat prints all over the hood, windshield and roof. I only have a car port to park the car in and I can't keep the cat away from the car. Is there something safe for the car I can spray on it that the cat won't like? Any other ideas? (don't want to use a car cover because their a pain in the neck.)

I have had my Betta for about 2 years. He recently had a sore on his face that looked cottony. So I tried Fungus Clear (which did nothing) then I tried Maracyn. The Maracyn seemed to make him feel better, but didn't really clear up his face. Now he has been pretty much paralyzed for the last 4 days. He hasn't eaten that I know of. And the only way you can tell that he isn't dead, is by tapping on the aquarium glass and he moves. I now have him in a little net (loose so he can move)close to the top of the water so he can get gulps of air (which he hasn't done.). Is there anything I can do? Or is it too late? Also, his back is curved and he can't use his tail fin.

I rescued a kitten from the shelter and immediately took him to the vet, they told me the kitten had an uppper respitory infection and gave me antibiotics and eye drops. The drops seem to have made his eyes worse. I took the kitten back to the vet, they told me possibly scratch, did dye test, no scratch. They concluded the kitten had conjunctivitis(pink eye). They gave me antibiotic ointment this time. This doesn't seem to be working either. I started doing an old family remedy- warm wash cloth dipped in tea. I feel guilty for going against the vet, but I want my kitten better. Does anyone know what I should do? I feel so terrible for this helpless kitty. Someone please help.

Saltwater (for those who don't know)

He was fine this morning, very cheerful.

My blue hippo tang is lying on the bottom of the tank dying, he has lost all his coloring. What is going on? None of the other fish seem sick, just him. I checked all Ph, nitrate/ite and others and they are all within normal range. The temp is 77 degrees...What could be happening? He has only been in our tank for 3 days.
