You know, when I was a teen, my parents gave away my dog. I'm sorry to tell you that I never did get over it, and that was in the 1960's. .However, it caused me to spend my life teaching dog and cat owners that pets are NOT disposable.
I strive to teach how to fix the problems, as an alternative to dumping the dog/cat..
I hope that you will be able to turn this terrible experience into something positive,

Honey dogs don;t understand the concept of moving. They need attention each and every day. Not only when nothing else gets in the way.
I'm sure you truly are regretting not taking better care of Pebbles when you had her, but maybe it's best to wait until you are a little more mature before taking on another pet.
Maybe next time a cat maybe a better choice for you? They are more indipendent and can cope with being "put off a bit" better than a dog can.
Hope your move goes well.

I think it's good that your Mom was teaching you a lesson, but that being said, I think it was aweful that it was with your beloved puppy dog.
Nothing will get you over it. The only thing I can say is that your love will never stop for your puppy, and your puppy is most likely being raised with lots of love and attention now.
When you get another puppy someday, I'm sure you will never neglect your puppy for any reason whatsoever.
Since you are so busy moving and all, your Dad is right - this isn't the right time to get your puppy back, or get a new one.
Wait until things settle down a bit at home. Then, you'll have the right time for a new puppy. You just have to wait, and that's very hard to do.
Remember, your puppy is most likely very happy and getting lots of love from the new family, so don't worry about your puppy.

I am so sorry that your mom gave away your dog. Sounds to me like mom and dad did not want the dog in your new house.
Sometimes parents make decisions that at the time, seem like the right thing to do. You will get over losing your dog. I hope that mom gave her to some good people that will love Pebbles as much as you did.

Your mother should be ashamed of herself. I have said time and time again that "dogs are not disposable". When you get a dog, you get it for its entire life. If you were irresponsible and did not take care of the dog, then your parents should have punished you by grounding, etc. not getting rid of the dog. This taught you nothing but the fact that dogs are unimportant and disposable. Dogs should be members of the family. Your mom is totally wrong on this one, and I hope you show her this email from me. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this. But on the other hand, if you ever get another dog, you must learn to take care of it properly and love it like a family member. I cannot believe that your mom could just get rid of a dog, just like that, shame on her!!!! Dogs are not disposable, they are life time family members....Next time, do better, so your uninformed mom will not give that poor little thing away to strangers.

Harden up!!
If you loved your dog that much you wouldn't have put her off would you?
With dog ownership comes responsibility, if you don't have the time or too lazy to make time for your dog then she is better off with someone else who can spend time with her.
Your mum is right to give your dog away.

just remember your mother is a crazy psychopath. one day you will be able to get your own place and have a dog. don't forget because you don't want to end up a crazy psychopath like your mom. one day you might have kids and you don't want to be giving dogs away.
your dad is whipped -- if he lets you get another dog mom will go crazy on him. saying no to you is the path of least resistance because your mom is a crazy psychopath and you aren't.
or you could take up knife throwing or something and scare them into letting you have another dog. that would kind of be cool.

Hooray for your mother.....to many people get animals and then neglect them. I am certain you were warned and warned again. Your mother is not being mean she is being kind A dog is not a part time obligation and there is no excuse for not taking care of it. I am certain even though you were moving or whatever you were fed and cared for. When you have matured and proved it I am certain your mother will reconsider. Just be glad your dog is with someone who will take care of it now.

My mom gave away my guinea pigs and that was really hard for me , but the things i did were look at the pics of my pets (if you have a pic), think about all the good thing that i did with them, and just think about why she gave them away. Hope this helps!
