I live in an area that gets very hot - well in to the three digits. My American Eskimo dog stays inside most of the time, but on occasion he needs to stay out in the yard. (Yes there are plenty of places for him to have shade and water.)

I know that some people shave their dogs' coats during the summer season, but I've also heard that their coat actually keeps them "insulated" from the heat. Which is true?

are they known ti be aggressive? I know it all depends on the certain dog, but Have you heard about aggressive problems with these? I thought that theywer nice andOne of the most calm, nicest, sweetest dogs I have ever met was an Austrailian Cattle dog. But then on a website abotu dog breeds, I saw that they continuously said that they are aggreisive, protective, and not good with children. Your opinion and maybe some webistes with this breed, please?
Thank You!

My 11 year old cat has an licking problem. She is constantly licking and grooming herself! She doens't have fleas at all, I have bathed her twice within the past two weeks and fog bombed the basement part of the house where I live. So there shouldn't be any bugs or parasites that are bothering her. My other cat doesn't seem to have the same problem. But this cat has licked, groomed, and chewed herself so much that she has scabs everywhere and her fur is thinning out. I really don't think that she is sick...my next step will be to take her to the vet, but I wondered if anyone knew something that would help.

I went to check the mail and when i came back in my son had put one of those gel airfreshener jars in the tank. I started draining it immedieatly but I can't get the fish out untill it is almost empty because I don't have a net big enough for him and anything else I try to use he jumps out of. Do you think he will be o.k until I can get him out in about 10 minutes.

My dog has his home in the back yard in a big fenced kennel. But the grass is completely gone and it is just mud since it has been raining. What would be good to put back there that will make the grass grow back thick like it was?. I want him to have lots of thick grass because he loves rolling around in it. Now he looks like a muddy pig.

Ok, so I've put on my hard hat, and am preparing to duck, but please read the whole question before shooting me!
I'm an animal lover who has no problems being a meat eater, but I totally respect those who decide that eating animals is not for them. My question is about where we draw the line when it comes to respecting the right to life?
So as caring animal owners we worm our animals, and vaccinate them, so worms and germs have no right to life, is this OK?
Do we quite happily try and eradicate insect problems, ants, wasps, flies, mosquitoes?
When it comes to rats and mice, in the barn, or in the feed shed, potentially spreading disease to our animals, which has the right to life?
We have problems with prairie dogs, and fox and badger holes, they are a definite danger to both horses and cows, how do we deal with that?
We also have coyotes which pose a threat to my calves.
My question is how far up and down the food chain to you go for the right to life?

I have a 4 month old female Bull terrier. She received her first 2 sets of puppy shots, however after her second set, she broke out in hives and had a rash all over her body. My vet said she was fine and I went in to get her third set and he gave her a shot of benadryl with the shots and she STILL broke out all over.
My vet wants her to have her last set and her rabies shot, I on the other hand want her to have a Titer done in order to see if she has anti-bodies already for both. My vet says that is unneccesary and the shots will not hurt her. What should I do?

right now he's so inactive, he's recovering from a URI... i let him play on the floor in the living room occasionally (not much since he's trying to get better), but other than that, he seems quite bored.... i plan on getting him a cagemate a month after he's recovered (along with a 3 week quarantine), until then, how can i entertain him?
