I heard putting down lime helps. You can also hose the area where they go potty frequently to neutralize the acids and ammonia that is in urine.
Personally, my yard belongs to my dogs. I don't mind the dead grass or brown spots. They are very small and the only time it's bad is in the springtime. The rains wash and water the area and it grows back quickly.

You can go to your local pet shop and buy lawn spray for the brown spots or you could feed your dog a good quality diet like Royal canine or precise, so the dogs urine PH is more basic. Good luck

Concider getting your dogs urine tested first. Some times dogs with urinary infections or other diseases (kidney failure) can turn the acidity of the urine and create brown marks in your yard. If this is not a problem considering watering down the urine spots after he/she goes. This will dilute the urine and help the grass grow.

if you catch your dog or neighbor hood dog in my case, dilute the urine with plenty of water! Maybe you could try hot pepper spray to keep the dog from doing it again. They usually pick certain spots for certain reasons...maybe another dog is going there as well! The preferred peeing spot! LOL. Plant new grass seed, cover with straw and keep watering it. ...good luck. I feel your pain. Yesterday I found a pile of dog diarrhea from the stupid neighbor dog that insists on "going" over here! His owners never fixed him and never trained him or watch him. riduculous! I also have to keep my dog on worm meds year round that costs me money to keep her from getting worms from this unruly dog! Is the dog that is peeing fixed?Would be something good to find out. I woudl find out which dog is doing it and speak up! I wish i had a long time ago. This stupid neighbor dog even urinates on my dog! YUCK!

Put applecider vinegar in your dog's drinking water. It Phs their system and there will be no brown spots on the lawn, cause the urine is less acidic.

what "burns" the grass is too much nitrogen (from the urea in urine) in one spot. if the city lawn is fertilsed the nitogen "baseline" is higher and also there is likely less lawn thus more likely pee over an old pee spot - both of which raise the chances of going over the amount of N the grass could tollerate watering the lawn(if hose aviable) will dilute the pee & stop it

Try to get your dog to increase the amount of water it consumes. This will decrease the strength or concentration of the urine, and will therefore have less of an impact on the grass. It is also healthier for your dogs system to process more, but less dilute urine that what is so concentrated.

There are vitamins/pills sold at pretty much any pet store that you can give your dog each day, but my vet told me that they have seen some dogs have kidney failure problems from sustained use of these. I don't have any basis for this, so you may want to check with your vet, but I've heard you can give your dog tomato juice every day and it neutralizes the acid in their urine. Like I said, I don't know if this works or if it's all that good for your dog, so you need to check it out on your own. Good luck!

Water down the lawn as best as you can. If that doesn't work, there are some treats that can help:

If you can, water them as soon as you see them occur. When they appear anyway, reseed right away to get new grass filling in.
Try and create a designated potty area for your dog in your yard and train them to use it.
