Today my dog was sitting down and this red thing was coming out of his penis. Is that normal? I don't know what it is...

Sounds silly I know, but my 7 month old puppy has just been diagnosed with CCD. He will chase shadows or reflections for hours on end. I've done the things that the vet has suggested, ignore him when he's doing it, rotating his toys so that he doesn't get board with the same things etc.

He gets a long walk every evening, and has slightly improved. Other ways I could keep him ocupied rather than just toys would be greatly appreciated!

I know, go see a vet, but wondered if anyone had experience or insight...
My lab-mix is an altered rescued female we've had for about 6 years. Her guestimated age is 8 or 9.
About three weeks ago she started limping on one leg and had buggery eyes. There was no obvious cause for the limp (no objects in her paw, no obvious area of sensitivity when touched/pressured). About a week later, her eyes cleared up, but her other front leg started hurting. Now, three weeks into it, all four legs are stiff, she thinks long and hard before getting up, has difficulty going down stairs, lays down all day, and no longer gets in the garbage!

Is this just arthritis? I got some doggy aspirin for her, but can't really tell if it works because she just lays down all the time. She is certainly not herself, and it seemed to happen in a short amount of time.

Thanks in advance!

So it's freezing and my six month old bichon/poodle puppy needs boots to protect his feet. That signal is clear when the poor guy starts limping. From experience, can anyone recommend good boots that are functional. They'll stay on, are meant for snow/ice and are comfortable for my puppy, etc.

The boots I bought him fly away when he hops around. While shopping for his boots, it seemed like most only satisfy accessorizing your dog or it looked like it would take quite a time to put them on.

Having a bichon/poodle pup is definitely a change from my departed German Shepherd :)

I found a question on this site where someone was wondering what to do about a cat that had a deep cut and they had no money for a veterinarian. The question was closed to new answers and it upset me to think that the cat didn't get help.

Here is a list of links in case any of you need to get help for a sick animal and you can't pay.

its only been in the last couple of weeks he has been digging in the same spot in the back yard. Each morning we have looked out our kitchen window to see that same spot of dirt dug up, even though the day before we filled the hole up and patted it out flat. We have tried telling him off, we have tried ignoring him, we have tried telling the hole off, we have tried giving him more attention and all sorts of doggy toys to entertain him, we have tried sprinkling pepper in the spot that he likes to dig, we even put a steel step over the spot (and somehow he managed to climb under it and dig another hole)... None of those things have really detered him from doing it. I love my dog but am out of ideas!

One week after bringing our new hamster home, she had 6 babies! 2 babies died about a week later and we're unsure why. The rest have done very well are so cute. However, yesterday one was weak, could barely walk and later died. Today, we have another one acting the same! Since they appear to be done nursing from their mother, I put a little bit of water in the cage, as they can't reach the water bottle very well. We don't know what else to do.This is very confusing! They seem fine one day and suddenly the next day they're not.

We just adopted a dog 2 weeks ago from the pound. We very rarely leave him but when we do we come home to a disaster. We bought a metal crate and tried that but he destroyed everything in it including the plastic tray that comes with it for the bottom. The next time we put him in it we put some chew toys and when we got home there was blood and he broke 1 tooth and chipped another. Now when we leave we have a wire rope covered in plastic, hooked to a stake in the ground. In general he is only left for about 10 minutes during the week. Long enough for me to take my daughter to school. The tether is something that we just started but we can not use it for long periods of time because it is very cold and snowy outside. Any ideas for the future? We love our dog very much and have become very attached and hate to see him hurt. But also hate to see out things destroyed. Can any one help?

I have a yearling stallion that I'm fitting for my first halter show. I leave a light on in his stall from 6 in the morning till 9 at night. He also wears a medium weight blanket all the time and hood when it gets cold. He has started to shed but my show is in March and he is still pretty hairy. I don't have a horse vacuum but I use a mitt and brush him every day after I get home from work. They say that body clipping should be a last resort but I do have a good pair of clippers but not alot of shaving experience. Any other advice?

Why do people get a dog WITH a coat, only to turn around and SHAVE it???????

I am NOT talking about little dogs, I am talking about Newfs, Goldens, Saints.....dogs like that. They SHOULD and DO have a coat for a reason. Why do people just shave it off. If you can't keep up with coat care, why get a breed like that in the first place?

My mother lives beside a large inclosure that includes horses, goats , ducks, rabbits, sheep and other small animals all on about 8 to 10 acres. My problem is, well for one, the horses are corral in a pen that is less than a quarter of an acre with hardly anything to eat or drink, their up to their chest in mud, fecies. The goats and sheep wonder about with broken legs and are alway getting out of the enclosure on the road which is a busy highway and eating up my mothers yard , trees and dear plots. She has called the sherrifs numberous times and they cant seem to do anything about it The poor animals are literaly dying off by numbers . Please reffer me to someone that can help. She lives in crawford county illinois.

Okay, here is the problem. My sister has a gray fox under her trailer. Her son was outside of the fence because she wouldn't let him near it. The fox came from under the trailer and jumped at him showing it's teeth and growling. Luckily, the fence seperated them. She called animal control and they said they couldn't do anything. They told her that she needed to hire someone to come out there. She is a single mother with two kids. She does not have a whole lot of money. She lives paycheck to paycheck. The fox has either had babies or rabies and showing that by it's aggressive behavior. The gray fox is endangered. I would think that the wildlife comission would want to protect it from becoming extinct and find out if she does have babies and protect them from getting hurt. Am I wrong? What can she do to get rid of it without getting hurt herself? Does animal control have to come out for a possible rabid fox? Can't shoot it, she will go to jail or fined.

He is a good dog when it is just my husband and I but if you throw other people (or dogs) in the mix he gets a little psycho. I also have a 6 month old boxer that he has actually nipped a few times..once causing minor bleeding. Every incident has been over a scrap of food, dog bone, etc. But most of the time the two dogs are fine together. It's when dogs or people that he doesn't know come around he goes nuts. There is nothing I can do to control him, he's so strong I certainly can't hold him back. When he gets to this point not even a filet mignon would distract him. Although he's never bitten it scares me that he might. When children are around he has a completely different reaction. He barks and growls in a seriously aggressive way. I'm afraid he would attack a child. He also has recently began to destroy everything in the house which is the straw that has broken the camels back. I want to give him up. I would be sad without him but I feel like he's too much. What to do?

Looking for canned food with no by-products in it that my cat will enjoy. She doesn't like canned food that much. It is a hassel to feed it to her sometimes because she often needs to be pursuaded to eat it.
