Today my dog was sitting down and this red thing was coming out of his penis. Is that normal? I don't know what it is...

Yes, that IS the penis. It comes out of the SHEATH, which is the skin that contains the penis.

That "red" thing IS his penis coming out of his foreskin. It's normal. Neutering does not stop it completely but it's nothing to worry about.

That red thing is the penis. Totally normal and neutering will not stop it. It may also appear when he defecates.

Don't worry or panic! It seems odd, but that IS his penis. It only comes out to play when he's excited/happy/etc. When I was a kid, we used to laugh and call it the "pink rocket" or the "paperless red crayon". :-)

Hi Anna!!
The red thing you are seeing are called the bulb of the penis. It is just one large area of spongy blood filled tissue but it ha s two lobes.

Male dogs can get an ability to retract the penis back into it's protective skin covering called the "prepuce".

My dog had the same thing he is a Golden Retriever 10 Month old.
I thought it's normal. I think Neutering should stop it?

Why God, Why? Please listen to the majority of people here. They are right. I am still wondering about the one that said her dog's whips out when he is scared. And that it is gross. WOW.
