wear that expensive hat and coat? My aunt bought her a satin coat studded with Swarovski crystals and lined in pink silk, and a diamond-encrusted platinum dog-collar pendant embossed with the initials S D, (Scooby Doo) and she wont wear it. Why???

It's not normal for a dog to wear human clothes. It is uncomfortable for the dog. Some dogs are very submissive and will do whatever their humans tell them or have to do because of intimidation and fear. You don't want your dog to be like that towards you. You want a good relationship with your pet.

How lucky your dog is to have someone like you and your aunt that obviously cares so deeply about their dog!

Dogs are not humans. They don't have a sense of vanity and pomp and circumstance like people do..

They generally don't appreciate (although sometimes they will tolerate) clothes and being "dolled up".

Dogs prefer to have nothing on them or as little on them as possible. It could be that the clothes are uncomfortable or weigh too much to wear around her.

Anyways... dogs don't like all the people clothes that we try to force on them.

Neither you, nor your aunt should take it personally, instead you should just take it that your dog is comfortable being who she is, and doesn't need "diamonds and pearls" to make them feel good about themselves!

Maybe that's not her style. LOL

It's hard to say why she won't wear it. It's been my experience with both cats and dogs that neither one of them like wearing anything like that. Maybe if you had started her on clothes when she was a pup, she would be used to it. I know some people think it's a good idea and whoever came up with it first is rich, but i just don't think they were meant to wear clothes.

Cause the dog's got more sense than your aunt. A coat can actually make the dog cold because it's natural warmth layer is being flattened and can't retain as much heat.

Let me see now, would you wear something like that, I hope not.

It's a DOG not a DOLL. If your aunt wants to play dress up tell her to invite you to the store and pick out some stuff.

I have a shih tzu who loves being dressed. She even has a tiara!
She loves the attention she gets when she has something cute on. My chihuahua on the other hand, would rather shiver than wear a sweater! Guess it just depends on the dog!

Dogs aren't designed to wear clothes and they are undoubtedly uncomfortable for them. Don't try and force your poor dog in to such unnatural behaviour - even a collar is a bit of a necessary evil - my brother's dogs don't even wear collars when they are in the house.

Also, no offence to your aunt, but it sounds really silly and tacky - don't demean you dog by dressing it up, please.

because she is a dog and dogs do not need or want to wear clothes. your aunt has just wasted her money, maybe she should sell the clothes on e-bay

Why won't you wear the stuff, and go round looking like a prat?
