I'm assuming he's outside...

Get an old tire and set the bucket inside the tire. The thick ring of rubber around the bucket should keep it from tipping.

I had this issue with our cat also. Very irritating with food, let alone water like your case. She would eat and then tip over her bowl as she was finished. The thing that I was able to do was use some "velcro tape" by 3M and tape it down to the ground. It is really cheap at most grocery stores. It is two pieces of "tape" that velrco in the center. The good thing about it is that you can use it inside or outside on almost any surface. Plus, since it is velcro you can unvelcro it and refill, wash and etc. Then you can replace it and there are no problems, as compared to using tape. It made our cat really mad at first because she couldn't fiqure out why it didn't budge however the "velcro tape" is VERY STRONG! Good Luck!

My golden does the same thing. Outside especially. She'll dump in that splash around in it like it's a celebration. Oh and my favorite is when she lays in it and gets all muddy!

Try getting those large gallon water bowls. It holds about 5 gallons or so, had fresh water and is rather hard to tip. You can also try the nonskid, no tip metal bowls found in most Petsmarts and Petcos. Those would work well too.

It would be more hassle than it's worth trying to train him not to do it, ESPEICALLY if you're not around to catch him in the act. You have to admit though.. it is kinda funny!

Good Luck

I have friends who have three outside dogs. They use a metal bucket for their water and they actually rigged up a ring that the bucket sits in that goes around a tree so they cannot spill it or drag it off. They also have one inside their doggie barn that they attached to the wall and the bucket sits right in it. I hope this helps.

you are able to shave the tummy, it DOES help shop the dogs cooler. canines are not getting solar burned, there are a number of breeds with little or no hair; Chihuahua, & chinese language crested.....to call 2.... my neighbor (of 13 yrs )has owned Goldens as their determination of breed. it is okay to shave a golden. they are going to look stupid in case you shave the completed dogs, so my pals purely did the bellys. It additionally facilitates to make particular you have clean chilly water obtainable to your dogs(s). My pals had kiddie swimming pools the canines might lay in. you are able to constantly rub them down with a moist towel on very heat days. I do this for my Doberman Pinscher.

Dont fill it up. Leave it empty or where he can't get it until he learns better! When you let him get a drink of water, let him drink and watch him. As soon as he starts to tip it over , twll him NO, and if he still does it, take it away again. Stay conssistant with this, and he wont knock it over anymore. He probably does it for attention!! Maybe also, get a bowl that is not so deep. If he cant reach the water, maybe he is bringing the water to him, where he can get it. My dog wont put his head in enclosed areas. He has big, wide open bowls.

Get a heavier pail. I personally planted mine in a square of concrete and it is pretty much immobile. Heavy clay waterpots for planting work well.
