I've loved animals every since i was little & my life goal is to become a Veterinarian.
As of right now, I attend High School in Illinois.

Does anyone know how many years of College &/or Veterinary school i will need after High school?
Also, what are the best Colleges & Veterinary schools in or around Illinois?

Or to put it simply, what are the steps I will need to take in order to become a veterinian, after completing High School?

Thanks in advance. =]

I was at PETCO today and the cashier informed of a new policy at PETCO that you must be 18 or accompanied by a parent to purchase crickets or feeder mice. What's the deal with this policy?

Our dog is about 9 yrs old. She has been an outside dog but because of her age we are wanting to bring her inside. The problem: ALLERGIES. Is there something out there (that someone has tried and it has worked) that helps control excess shedding and pet dander? Looking for advice before heading to the store.

We would like to find a toy-size dog (around 9-15 pounds) for our family of seven. We have children from ages 2 1/2 to 14. The youngest children are 2 1/2 and then 6 and I haven't seen them be rough with any animals. The six year old falls in love with every animal she sees. Family members are home most of the time so the dog would not typically be left alone except for weekend errands.

Here is what we are looking for:

**Toy size or very close to it.**

**Doesn’t shed or minimal shedding but is not hairless.**

**Hypoallergenic.**

**No doggy odor.**

**Good with children.**

**Doesn’t require frequent professional grooming (prefer less often every 6 weeks).**

**Easy to housebreak and train.**

Yes, that's a tall order but I'm hoping there is a 'perfect' pet for us. I have done a lot of looking online and seem to only find conflicting information. I would be very thankful for any 'wise' recommendations you care to share.

Thanks,
Donna

On average how much would it cost to get an adult yorkie bathed and get it's hair cut? Information about a show cut and a puppy cut would be useful.

He is constantly picking fights with my cat, and he always bullies my older 12 year old chocolate lab. (Pushing him around, barking, biting etc ) another big problem is that he has a few toys around(ropes, chew toys and such) he ALWAYS wants to play and he'll bark if you don't. He has an ear piercing bark. He sometimes snaps at you if you don't play. It's becoming unbearable the way he always is bothersome. I guess this is to be expected from a puppy, but there has to be something i can do, Please Help.

I adopted a three month old kitten today. And I named her Cali and she is a Calico so thats where we got the idea.
We went to the store but I stayed in the car with her. She was fine, but when we got home she refused to crawl out of her box. I lifted her out, (Our dog was outside and Cali had not even saw her yet) and she crawled low to the ground to the door and ginger jumped up on the otherside of the door and scared her. I put her back in her box and put her in the bathroom, she was still in the box as I put litter in her box, and then I put water and food in her bowl. I put her out of her box. And walked in the kicthen (dog is still outside). I walked back in and saw her beside the box, scared. I tryed to comfront her but no improvement. I stepped back in the kicthen to countiune making her bed, but when I walked back in she was GONE! I can't find her anywhere, is she just nervous? Should I let her be? THis is the first time I have ever adopted, so tips for what I should do????

We don't leave him home alone very often. He's small enough to fit through the slats inour fence, but big enough that it's not fair to leave him inside while we're gone. We can't afford to put up a new fence, but this has got to stop. Is there something I can spray on the fence to make him stay away from it, or is there something else I can do beside installing a new fence?

I am looking to get 2 parakeets.

What are advantages and disadvantages of owning a parakeet?
I've always been fascinated with them and find them to be very cool and unique pets. I know they poop, but I don't mind that. I'll always clean it up. I guess that's a price I'm willing to pay to own such a graceful pet.

I heard they can talk, is this true? What may I do to strengthen their usage of words and vocabulary?

Any cleaning, caring, keeping, tips are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking your time to read my question.

My horse is wonderful. He is great to ride, and fun to groom and handle. I'm just afraid I'm pushing him too hard. He is 23 years old, and a pinto gelding. Last Thursday, on a trail ride,we were cantering when my friend started cantering her horse faster and faster .My horse, Dusty, was very frisky, and wanted to go faster too, he is 14.2 hh, so he couldn't catch up in a canter. You guessed it, he galloped, when I slowed him down, he bucked twice, yet I still clung on to him.He was a total runaway. I gradually got him to stop before my friend got her horse to stop. He wanted to keep on going, but I walked him in a couple 20 m circles to calm him down. I am afraid he did this because I am pushing him to hard, and he only wanted to please me by going fast. Maybe it is just my imagination, but I'm not sure. Could anyone tell me if I am pushing him too hard?

We have just come back from a holiday and we had a relative come in twice a day to feed and water our cat 'Tammy' whilst we were away, unfortunately we have a problem with cat fleas in the home now...really small black things ...that bite. We have tried using Bob Martin flea bombs which fumigate via a plume of smoke, but sadly these do not seem to have worked,PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE does anyone reading this know how to help us rid our home of these things or perhaps can reccomend a product easily available on the market that will do this.
If you can help it would be much appreciated buy us and our cat, who now will not go onto the carpets or certain parts of the home.
