most dogs don't like the noise. You have a super dog there!

Um... Get him inside before he gets hit by a car??
I suspect you're misinterpreting his behaviour. Happy dogs don't go barmy and keep running up and down. Sounds to me like he's very disturbed. Get the poor dog back inside.
Mine are both fine with fireworks. But they are inside, fast asleep.

I have 2 dogs here at the moment, Bobby the 10yo collie is terrified and cowering under my legs as we speak and tully, 3yo alsation stands up to the window watching...
I think it is how they were brought up and if something has scared them in the past..
Bobby is a cruelty case and Tully not... I also had collie cross several years ago that I raised from a pup, up until she died at 14, she loved fireworks and I think it is because I loved to go walking in thunderstorms and I always took her with me... She knew there was nothing to worry about with loud bangs, they are just noise!!!
I know, a pretty long drawn out answer to a very simple question.

I used to have a dog who had been trained as a gun dog. We followed the recommendations and kept him indoors on bonfire night. He'd spend the whole evening propped up against the window watching the display with tongue and tail wagging.

Every year on the 4th of July, I round up all our young dogs and go to the park to watch the fireworks. By having the dogs there with me and making one big happy party with lots of "Oooos & Aaaaas" as the rockets go up in no time the pups are watching with great excitement enjoying the experience as much as any kid would.
If instead, every time there is a loud noise you gather your puppy up going "Oh poor dog",,,,,,,,, GUESS WHAT,,,,,,, you are CONDITIONING your dog to be afraid of loud noises.

No, My dogs seem to like them too. I think because the fireworks seem to be going off for about 4 weeks before bonfire night they get used to them. The cats don't seem to mind them either.

Judging by his behaviour... he doesn't sound like he LIKES the fireworks. He sounds like they are making him mad. It's impressive that he is brave enough to walk out the house alone though, my dog cowers to the sound of fireworks and will only go outside uccompanied by someone.

I know my dog hates them, so you are lucky to have a brave dog, that can take the challenge of loud noise with light to accompany the sound. My dog freaks!!! He hates thunder as well.

One of my german shepherds loves them too.
He jumps in the air trying to catch them when they go off.
And when there's a break in the show he throws a fit.He whines and barks at the air where he last saw the lights. And if that does'nt bring the light back fast enough he works himself up till he's almost uncontrolable.
When we set them off at home he has to be held for his trying to catch them before they go up.
Unfortuneately our other shepherd is terrified of them.

Hiya!
Yeah, mine too!
I have two dogs (girl and a boy - Q&A would let me use the b***h word!). He's the bigger and older one and is petrified of the noise, and she's the smaller and younger one, and would stay out in the garden all night if we let her!
They're great aren't they, dogs?!!
