Does anyone have experience with stripping a coat? I usually have my Schnauzers shaved down, but am interested in stripping, especially on dark ones, how often is this done compared to shaving down? Is it painful for the dog and if it is a puppy when do you start?

Our cat jumped the fence into the neighbor's yard behind us. We drove around and knocked on their door and (despite clearly being able to see them in the window) they didn't answer.
What should we do?

we've got the cutest golden lab, she 7yrs old and still daft as a brush, she sings to you in the morning when you come down stairs, brings you tea towels everytime you step though the door as a gift... and she can hear a kit kat wrapper opening from...at least a mile away!..... which brings me to the point,..... chocolate is bad for dogs yet they love it so much..... if you say 'no' to her she just gives you those sad puppy dog eyes and you end up giving her some, even though you said no a sent her away....., how do they do this........ were did they learn it from?

I alwasy thought that when you go and get a cat, you could look between their legs and see if they are male or female? Well we did just that back in May and 2 had something down there and 3 did not. I took 1 that had nothing down there and that kitten was so beautiful. We named her Sassy, now 5 months later my cat was cleaning itself yesterday and I seen a wein wein sticking out. What is up with that? This is the second kitty that this has happened with. The first one we named Fancy and when we found out he was a male cat, we tried changing his name and he wouldn't go by anything else. So we just called him Fancy Man. But now we found out that my Sassy is a male, I do not know what to call him. Mayby something close to Sassy or even sounds kind of the same. Any ideas??????

My yorkshire terrier who is just over 6 years old has been crying constantly over the past couple over days. She's had me awake all last night! There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her physically she's just really restless walking round all the time like she's looking for something. I'm pretty sure she's not in pain, she just seems a bit confused. I read somewhere that it could be similar to cabin fever? She's in the house on her own most of the day and she doesn't go out of the house much. Is this a possiblity? Even after she has been out she still cries and wanders round and cries when she's resting and when she's playing! She just seems to be down but hyperactive as well. I'm quite worried and getting a bit stressed out about it. Does anyone have any advice?

I have two weimaraners that are just over a year in age each. One is the dark grey color and the other the light color. The dark colored one seem to not be bothered to much by the cold weather but the light now is always shivering and can't stand being outside. Sometimes it could be in the 40's or 50's and he is standing by the door shivering to come in as my other dog is out and about the yard without a care. I wish I could leave them inside when I go to work but they destroy everything in their site outside let alone in. Does anyone have a dog that is like this and do you know why or what you did to help???

I recently had to bring my cat to the vet because he was lethargic. My vet said that he had a fever and that he had a cold. He is now on antibiotic drops. Now I have a cold and wondering if I caught it from him. Is that possible or just coincidence?

I have been thinking about getting a bird, that I can teach to talk. I've wanted one for a long time but I've never had a bird before. What all is involved? Cost? How much time should you spend with the bird? Any personal experiences are fine. Just need some insight, I know it's not something you just go out and buy.

I see so much hatred towards PETA on here and I would like to know where it all comes from. I don't have time to research and I want to know.

A found my cat Oscar as an abandond kitten and his eye had been destroyed by an upper respitory infection. I didn't have money at the time to take him to the vet so I did what ever I could to save him despite what others were telling me ("oh he's going to die" is what they kept telling me, which relly annoyed me) But I crushed kitty vitamins and hand fed him everyday and then he got better and his eye shrank back and now his eye is closed most of the time. Now that I have money and time to take him to the vet I wanted to get his eye checked out. He get's a lot of discharge comming out of it. What can the vets do about that? Will they sew it shut?

She is now 8 months old. She was at the humane society at 4 months of age and got URI{ that's a cat cold } so she went in a foster home until she was 5 months old! I then adopted her. Since I've gotten her, she does'nt like to be petted or held and she seems to be afraid to go on the bed!! Do you think she was abused before she went to the shelter or maybe her foster mother was too strict with her?? And how can I get her to start sleeping on the bed??

Two weeks that I've cleaned my goldfish tank it's cloudy. (cleanig i mean taking the water and gravel out, washing the glass, rinse the plants. Then assembling it all back with clean water) I only have two goldfish in a 24 liter tank with an undergravel filter with quite a powerfull air pump. I don't over feed them and the food is the type that don't cloud the water. I use Easy Balance stuff every week so I don't have to do water changes

My friend's dog, a 2 yr old Boston, is constantly throwing up. He is allergic to pretty much every brand of dog food (allergies to corn, starch, wheat ect...) since day one he's been throwing up 2 times a day. Mostly after eating. He was on steroids for his allergies but isnt' anymore. Nothing can be diagnosed. The vet's are at a standstill as to what his problem is. He has ulcers, allergies but yet... nothing has worked - different foods, pills ect.
The dog 'seems' happy, he doesnt seem to be in pain... I know it's hard to tell, he's a dog he can't say for sure if he is in pain or not... but you can tell when a dog's not 'himself'...
any advice, suggestions, comments, theories ?!?!!!???

She is 3 years old and gets 2 walks a day, eats good food and has plenty of play time. I like to think she has a balanced life.
However I have recently moved house and now spend about an hour and a half longer commuting per day.
She has been excellent in the new house, has not wee'd or poo'd at all, but out of boredom, loneliness, or trying to hold her wee in. She is beginning to try to destroy things.

Please don't tell me it is unfair to be out of the house for 10 hours per day. I know this already and feel extremely guilty. I make up for it as much as possible and I beleive she is still a happy dog. She gets more excersise than ever as we now live in the countryside.

Any serious suggestions of something that could keep her entertained? Except buy another dog.
