Well I have dealt with the problems caused by horned cattle in barns and know what happens to a undocked sheep in humid conditions. Banning these practices will cause major animal misery
edit: Lambs are docked because in their native arid habitat they store fat in the tail. In a humid climate, on consistant good nutrition they get this enormase fat tail, that catches pee & feces & soon becomes maggot infested. As for dehoning cattle - had a 4-H cow with horns - she snapped one off in a gate, another in a hay rack, the tesultant stubs in heaven only know what and was trapped by her hons a time or two. Not to mention I've also witnessed a goring of one cow by another at a county fair.

I'm totally opposed to it. I'm sure you know the specifics of the surgery, and just how traumatic it is. The problem is, cat's have a very high tolerance for pain, so they might not always show it, but studies have shown that many de-clawed cats deal with paw pain for the rest of their lives (kind of like phantom pains when a person has a limb amputated). I don't think pro-declawing people have ever watched a cat very closely either. When a cat is really happy, it will often flex it's claws and vice versa - I've never seen a cat so content as when it's really going to town on a scratching post. The claws are a defense mechanism, a source of pleasure, and part of a de-stressing routine. The other side of the argument is that it saves furniture... but that's a pretty weak argument. I'd say that if you can't care for a clawed cat, then you can't care for a cat. The argument isn't an even two-sided argument. To force it to that level is to give the two sides a false sense of equivalence.

Oh yeah, I love to see our right to make our own decisions slowly being taken away by people who know little or nothing about animal husbandry.
As an example, look at the whole hog farm thing. The ARs rant and rave about the 'cruel' cages they are put in. Ya, they are called FARROWING crates and they are in them right after they birth their babies! It keeps the sow from smooshing all the little piglets!
As far as the lamb pictured being docked, they are docked to prevent flystrike. Which is better, a docking when they are babies, or maggots eating away their tail?
ARs don't care about THAT though do they? Its NOT about helping animals but about making ownership harder and harder until nobody has animals. No more animal ownership, INCLUDING Fifi on your couch!!!

i think that humans should be banned from circumsision,c-section child birth, ear piercing, and any other form of body modification. come on you narrow minded people!for cring out loud castration is done for the product that you your self eat wether it be in testical form or the beef or pork. lets take a look at tail docking,,, no i personal do not like it,but it was brought about in the mountains of switzerland on the cart dogs and gaurd dogs.
and ear tagging is how we make sure that our aminals ar3e not inbred among other things.
animal mutilation is the killing of animals for human consumption!!!!!!!!!!! wake up people.

I bet you a lot of it is done with out any sort of anestesia ,and that's wrong. If some of it is done so the animal doesn't suffer in the long run, then I agree with it.You have to weigh the pros abd cons to see what the animals quality of life will be.

I think it's very cruel....... animals feel pain the same as we do. We don't give them any choice in the matter. We declaw and dehorn animals so they can't cause harm, if animals were able to do the same to us, remove the part that's responsible for causing harm, I think there would be a lot of humans with their brain removed! (since they already have no heart)

Its very easy for people to give armchair opinions about what
others should not do with their livestock. lts not done for fun
or cruelty.
Simply because you don't know why when or why this does not
give you a right to cry foul. Its his animal you do what you
want with what is yours and let him do what he think is necessary with his property

that isnt mutilation because we had to do that to my grnadpas dog the reason is because they keep on wagging their tails and hit cabnits and sometimes they hit it so hard that they start bleeding and then u have to cut it off my grandpas dog hit his tail so bad that they could see the bone and another reason is they could be biteing their tail and hurt them selves u might thing that dogs cant bite their tails but they can ive seen it so thats y i think that croping a dogs tail isnt mutilation

Don't believe in animal mutilation. Cruel and uneccesary. Why do they dock those poor lamb's tails? Bet they don't use any anesthesia!

it breaks my heart as animals cant even tell u how they feel even if they wanted to. they cant call out for help. it's almost as if they have no rights! and i believe who ever does that to animals should have that done to them so that they can feel what it feels like!
