I see so much hatred towards PETA on here and I would like to know where it all comes from. I don't have time to research and I want to know.

Well, I myself do not believe in wearing fur and I think it is a bit excessive. I believe that animals are sharing their world with us and they deserve fair treatment. I asked this question because of the "Kill Box" video in Yadkin County, NC. I am very disturbed about that and I guess it's another question, but why would anyone be FOR gassing these poor puppies??

PETA as a group is oposed to anyone keeping any animals of any sort and is capable of taking extreme measures against any one who keeps animals of any sort.
Even someone who keeps a pet dog or a farmer who breeds animals commercially is wrong in their eyes.
They are not just against animals experimentation but totally oposed to any animals being kept for any purpose.
They have attacked people and property to further their ends and should be classed as terrorists.

Most members of PETA are wonderful, but, there are other members who take it to far, like spray painting fur coats while people are wearing them, this is just wrong. Hunters hate them because it is ruining their fun from killing things. Scientists hate them because they can't kill things to pretend they are finding a cure for something, they never seem to find a cure for anything, animals are not like humans so doing these tests are just cruel and unnecessary they have to find some other way. People who in some way that are cruel to animals, don't like Peta, Peta is tough and they find solutions any way that they can, and some don't like them for that. I think Peta is a awesome organization! They protect those who need protecting and they save lives every single day.I have been a member for a long time and I have not preached to anyone or spray painted anyone. If someone asks me something then I will give my opinion. There is a book called Living in Harmony with animals by Carla Bennett very interesting book.

PETA is too extreme for most people... and the money they get from donations really would help animals more if people donated to local shelters instead of PETA in some cases...
they are hypocrites too.... they say they dont want any animals killed and yet they drive vechicles with bugs splattered on the front.. they say people shouldnt wear fur/leather.. but yet more animals die from Cotton produciton and synthetic production is killing the planet (see the ARAL sea)... personally I dont wear fur and dont agree that animals should be killed soley for fur.. BUT if an animal is killed for food why waste the hide??
most hatred is becuase they are too extreme and sometimes are not helping animals in the long run ->freeing ferrets causes ferret fights, starvation etc...and the ferrets kill lots of wild birds/eggs

They think no one should breed purebred dogs. They have gone to dog shows & released & poisoned dogs! But these breeders are the good guys that actually are breeding to improve the breed & care about their breed enough to work to eliminate genetic problems & screen to place their pups in appropriate homes. Why would PETA do this? Pet stores that sell from puppy mills are the big problem! And saying no one should breed dogs till shelters are empty (one of their ideas) is unrealistic - I love the personality of Boxers, and getting a German Shepherd/Beagle mix from a shelter will not meet that requirement. Also, PETA believes pet ownership is enslaving animals & is wrong. They are too extreme with wacky ideas.

Because they're against animal ownership of ANY type, including pets, guide dogs, etc.
Because some of their members are on trial for euthanizing and dumping animals that they'd picked up from shelters, promising to try to find them good homes.
Because their "shelter" in Norfolk has one of the highest kill rates in the area.

PeTA also gives out misleading information and uses celebrity and sex appeal to push their message. And most people believe that animals don't have "rights" (other than to be looked after in a responsible way).

PETA has taken a healthy respect for animals and taken it to an extreme. In many cases they fight for the rights of ANIMALS over the rights of HUMANS. They'll fight to save an animal but will abort a child in a heartbeat.

PETA is nothing more than a radical group of "do-gooders" who want to make everyone else miserable. They pretend to care about animals when what they really care about is promoting their own cause. They are a lot like enviromentalists who want all of us to drive tiny dangerous cars or mopeds. Of course, they still get shuttled around in jumbo jets from one rally to another and ride around in limosines.
