I have a friend who found a kitty with an eye infection. She took him to the vet but they could not save his eye. They took the eye out and sewed the lid shut. He is fine with one eye. By the way..his name is One Eyed Jack! Take him in. If it has some discharge, maybe there is an infection. Good luck!

So sad to hear your little Oscar had such a rough start in life.
Yes, take him to the vet. The only thing that will clear an infection is antibiotics. He managed to survive your rough financial spot, but that eye really does need treatment.
When the eye is damaged, they MAY need to remove it & sew it shut, but it certainly won't look any worse, and MAY look better than it does now. The purpose of sewing it shut is to prevent further infection. Remember the eye is very close to the brain, so an infection could be very serious.
Thank you for taking in this poor little guy, and best of luck with him. Hopefully, you 'll have many happy years together.

It may just be infected behind the eye, or a cold. The vet will not sew the eye shut unless the eye is damaged and needs to be removed. Regardless, you need to take the kitten to the vet for shots so that he doesnt get really sick. The eye is more than likely infected and the vet can treat it with proper medication.

the vet will probably give you eye drops to put into the eye for the infection and maybe put the cat on antibiotics if the cat has an upper respiratory infection. They would NEVER just sew up an eye. Maybe remove an eye, treat an eye, or leave an unfunctioning eye in, but they would not just sew it up!

Try going to the SPCA or Government vet clinics, where they dont ask you for fee, but rather a donation.
Try putting some castor oil on his eye, it will get most of the inflamation out of the eye, but the discharge will be more for a a couple of days.
Thats the best i could give you, under ther circumstance.
Good luck and im sure Oscar will be fine (he does have 9 lives you know- lol)

your cat will still b able to c OK with one eye,the discharge could b an infection,if his eye is causing no other problem to him the vet may just leave it.if you have got the money for the vets then take your cat for a checkup,it can do no harm.

He most likely has an eye infection and needs medical attention right away before he loses the eye completely and the infection goes to his brain. It's great that you took in a stray but now you need to get him help.

You spend so much time to save him and get him this far, take him all the way, and taking him to the vet is a good idea, he will not be worse of than what he is now, and just maybe they can help him, good luck
