I recently had to bring my cat to the vet because he was lethargic. My vet said that he had a fever and that he had a cold. He is now on antibiotic drops. Now I have a cold and wondering if I caught it from him. Is that possible or just coincidence?

No, you can't catch a cold from your cat and a cat can't catch a cold from you, it is just a coincidence! Cat's can catch another cat's cold, though, so if you have other cats, they will likely catch it depending on their immune system and if they are vaccinated maybe they will just get it mild or even not catch it at all!!!

Not sure if you can catch a cold from a cat, but heard that a cat can catch a cold from humans, maybe just a coincidence, just think you can both stay in bed and you can even share his antibiotics.

Hi Melissa...cat's upper respiratory infections are a different viral strain which are only contagious only to the feline species and happily not to humans. It is not a zoonotic disease (diseases which are passed between animals and humans). You just happen to coincidentally catch a cold yourself.

EDIT: Here's a web article that talks about this in more detail: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_feline_upper_respiratory.html
