Due to recently putting down my cat's buddy (another kitty) my cat shadow's upnoxious yowling through the house has become worse. She used to do it when other kitty was alive, but since she's been gone I think she's going thru the house calling for her. How can I get her to be quiet at night so we can sleep in peace without getting her a new buddy? I'm not ready for another kitty right now. I've tried getting up with her and loving on her, I've tried isolating her and that is not right to her. She's just upset and confused. Any suggestions are good, nothing vulgar please. Thank you in advance.

We got a Doberman puppy (5 mos old) from what we believed was a "Reputable and responsible" breeder who professes to "specialize in Dobermans for first time owners." It was a BIG deal to pay her $4,400 for our dog. He was $3,000 plus $1,400 for training that meant he never jumped on our furniture or people, and didn't chew anything other than his toys or bone. After MANY phone conversations & e-mails, I surprised my husband (who REALLY wanted THIS dog as he was described to him) and bought him. He's a mess! We've paid trainers (former Westminster judges) & vets tell us that we've been had! His temperament was sold as "IDEAL companion & STRONG candidate for protection training." He's been described as "autistic." EXTREMELY afraid of people & now spent well over $2,000 on tests, Rx's & foods since he's had diarrhea from Day 1. We love him & it's just two of us in a very calm environment. We have NEVER yelled at or hit him, yet he's so fearful it's sad. What should we do? Thank you!

I absolutely love bunnies and fell in love with one at the fair this summer. I'm interested in buying one but don't know much. What would you recommend as far as keeping one, room and space, diet, etc?

I have a blue pit bull puppy, although he's active, playful, etc...he still looks like a baby pit bull (he looks normal though)...I'm saying this because I had a red nose pit bull about less then a month ago, and when my red nose was 8 weeks old, he looked a little more bigger and grown.

I've been fostering my friend's kittens for 2 months, got them when they were 4 months old. She won't be back for a year and now doesn't want them back. I'm fine with keeping them, but she wants the female to have kittens so she can have 1 or 2 when she returns.
She said if I don't want to have a breeding queen another friend would pick them up. They are 7-toed cats so a lot of people want them and apparently Polydactyl cats produce polydactyl kittens.
My problem is my family, dogs and other cats have accepted them, and everybody gets along.
I've never had an unaltered animal, but I don't want her to go to someone who is going to let her produce litter after litter. I strongly believe responsible owners get their cats fixed. Should I get her fixed without telling anyone, let her have a litter then get her fixed or give her away. If I get her fixed without permission have I done something illegal.

I have a 10 gallon fresh water gold fish tank. I've just recently moved about 2 weeks ago and it's about time for a 50% water change...but i'm faced with a problem. My tap water at the new house is treated and has sodium in it. I have a reverse osmosis system for drinking water but my water tank's only 5 gallons and I don't want to drain it. My question is can i go out and purchase, say, distilled water and use that? thanks!

I would like a dog that doesn't mind outdoors, is somewhat independent, good with kids and doesn't bark too much. Any ideas?

I have a 10 gallon tank with plants and everything but the fish. My plan was to start off with the betta and then when the cycling is over add a few corys. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Curious if my following observations are more likely age/raising/personality differences rather than gender in my 6 year old male (boo) and 2.5 year old female (Swift) goffins:

1) Boo (the male) collects treats, food, and "stuff" in empty bottles. Swift puts the same types of things in her feathers.
2) Swift (female) reacts to threats by tapping her beak, poofing her feathers, screaming without end, and retreating to a covered cage. With the same stimulus, Boo retreats to the door top (highest place in the room), screams a few times, poofs up for a second, and then observes.
3) Swift, at 2.5 years is already talking more than Boo ever has (he is 6.5 years old). She has a HUGE range of whistles and vocabulary! Boo uses his body language and a smaller vocabulary to communicate the same things (food, cuddle, alarm..).

Both birds are extremely cuddly and friendly with strangers (though Boo is more gentle and I trust him NEVER to bite). I've had Swift for about a year and Boo all his lif

I went and bought a miniature stallion to use as a breeding stock but yesterday we found out that he had allergies. Now we're unsure if we should use him for breeding. Because we're afriad that it will be inherited to his offspring.

I have a friend who recently chased off a neighborhood cat from his garage because it was eating his own cat's food on several occasions. He chased it off with a broom and accidentally hit it. It turns out that it was the neighbors cat and they took it to the Vet ER. Turned out the cat was fine just had a small abrasion and now the neighbors are asking him to cover the vet bill. Should he have to pay the bill or not.
