Perhaps it's algae...

If the tank is near the sun, or sunlight can get to it, it's going to have a lot of algae in it, so you may need to move the tank.

yellow?? r u sure its not yellowy-green? If so its definately algae that usually produces from when lights hits the water too long. If that's the case then I suggest not leaving the lights on too long (I'd say no longer than 8 hours). Although I don't think it causes any problems for you tank or your fish... but it does block your view.

You can soak the stones in bleach from time to time if you want. Just make sure to let them dry completely before putting them back in the tank.

Could be the amonia from the fishes urine, setteling into the stones.... might try changing the water more often. (not saying you dont do it 'enough' now...)

Probably algae, and chemicals in the water.
