I went and bought a miniature stallion to use as a breeding stock but yesterday we found out that he had allergies. Now we're unsure if we should use him for breeding. Because we're afriad that it will be inherited to his offspring.

No, it is not a good idea to use that horse as breeding stock. Allergies are an inherited trait. That trait will be passed down into the offspring and you don't want that.

I raise rabbits and time and time again I have seen the allergies passed down from generation to generation. We used to have trouble with colds to the point that almost all of them were getting colds and to the point that medicines were almost ruled ineffective. My dad and I started getting rid of any rabbit that had a cold for over a week and have done so for several years. It is very rarely now that we ever have a rabbit with a cold. Even certain behaviors tend to be genetic.

I look at things this way. Almost everything is affected by genetics, but you also have to keep in mind how the surroundings and care can change things.

genetics, ick... 25% chance I THINK of giving the offspring the allergies, unless it is a non-inherited allergy, which can happen (I'm not allergic to sulfa drugs, but my son is... since it was given to him as a baby)

I'd weigh my options, and what its allergic to. If its something silly, like a certain drug then I'd risk it. If its to grain, I wouldn't breed him without some serious testing

Definitely ask the vet, but....Allergies are hereditary, so I would say no, for the stallion, since he could pass to all offspring. Are you only standing one stallion? Are you breeding to your mares, or outside (belonging to others) mares?

NO
Allergies can be passed on and depending on what his are it would be best not to breed him as many of the faols may have problems as bad if not worse than his.
