I'm not sure what to do in this situation. A couple months ago I recieved Dak, a polydactyl (six-toed) kitten as a gift. He's the sweetest thing ever, but he absolutely WILL NOT let me trim his claws. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but his extra claw grows at a bad angle - it doesn't wear down when he uses his scratching post and it grows into the pad of his foot after awhile.

I have tried every trick in the book when it comes to trimming these two pesky claws, but all it has resulted in is a very angry cat and LOTS of scratches on my end. I know I'm not trimming them too short, either. I'm considering taking him to the vet to have these two extra claws removed.

I have never had any of my cats declawed before - usually just trimming their claws or using Soft Paws works - but I don't see another solution to this problem. He is absolutely terrified of the nail clippers. Even if he sees me clipping my own nails, he takes off running.

Hi, my cat is 4 years, 9 months and I've had her just 4 years now. For over 3 years she's been treated for an unknown condition with the immune suppressant Medrol/Medrone. It's kept her alive and well until earlier this year when she stopped responding to it. We have no idea what she has, every test shows a negative result. We haven't done a bone marrow test since there's nothing cureable there. Something is killing her red blood cells and we don't know what the cause is. The vet told me her latest blood test showed her marrow had stopped regenerating and there's no hope for her now. That was in January, she's off all her meds now and still here, though very thin and severely anaemic. How long can a cat live without new blood cells and something killing the current ones? Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on what she might have? Any tests that might have been overlooked? I'm prepared to let her go now, but not without a fight. I'm desparate to save her life. Thanks.

I have been communicating with a breeder who sells bulldogs, australian bulldogs and mini bulldogs. Is this some kind of scam? Has anyone heard of Brentwood Bulldogs? I believe it is out of Florida. Please help.

My dog Oreo is a house dog. She doesn't like to go outside very much; however, she does like to sit at the door and look outside (to bark at people who go by) or sit on the head-rest of the couch to look out the window. Well, there is this neighborhood cat (I don't know if it's a stray or not), that comes and sits on the porch directly in front of my dog when she is looking out of the door (the door is closed of course, but it is clear plastic). My dog goes balistic, jumping on the door and barking, like an intruder is trying to break into the house or something. When I close the door or pull her away, she whines and looks so sad. So, I let sit in front of the window to look out. The cat will jump on the ledge of the window and meow, and my dog will go crazy again. Now my dog is not a big barker, she only barks when she hears someone coming in the house or when she's other animals. But, it's really annoying, and I can't understand why the cat is tormenting my dog. What should I do?

I took the cage in the bathroom and covered the mirror and put the toilet seat down, he hopped onto my finger and I gently brought him out, and once he was out, he fluttered all the way to the top and i kind of panicked because after that he was crashing into the walls or so it seemed and landed flat in a puddle in the bath tub. thank god no serious injuries, but i felt so sorry...i want him to use his wings and fly around but not like that...it's like he didn't know how to fly...how can i avoid this for next time???

I had set my brood lamp where they wouldn't get too hot and the temp reading was 110.
I decided today to check them because they haven't hatched in 45 days already and each egg was hard boiled Those chicks never had a chance..I think my heat was too hot.

My Golden Retriever runs around in circles chasing his tail and pulling the hair out of it. Then he eats it. He seems obsessive about it. We try to get him to play games or calm down but he eventually just goes right back to doing it. He is being fed well, he has lots of toys around and we play with him. This just started about 6 months ago but now he does it like 10 times a day. He does not have fleas (he was just at the vet and has a flea collar and takes Frontline). He is not biting it to scratch it because he is just going for the hair and not the tail. We brush it so there are no knots. He has allergies. He seems to have sensitive skin. But I don't know how to stop this behavior.

I have a dog door in the garage that was there when I moved in. My dog has been having problems with urination, and I think it's due to being too excited when outside and forgetting to do her thing, then having to go once inside. I want to try the dog door as a way for her to go outside in an emergency, but I'm not sure what the safest way to use it is. I have a fenced yard, but should there be a kennel instead? I do plan on keeping her crated when no one is home.

I'm going to get them both at Petland so they will have been together for most of there life but there is one little problem. I already have one. Will they still know each other or will they have been separated too long? (I got this hamster a month and a half ago.) Oh and also they are both neutered. Would it be OK to have a boy and a girl?

I got my dog Oreo when I lived in Alabama. Then I moved to Tennessee, and my grandmother came to live with us. My dog immediately bonded to my grandmother (and was beginning to like her more than she liked me), then my grandmother died of cancer last June. I don't know if my dog actually understood what was going on, but when the paramedics came in the house to get my grandmother, my dog was very protective, and I had to take her in my bedroom and close the door. Then my grandmother didn't come home (because she passed), but my dog would still go into her bedroom to look for her. One day, my brother said "Wanna go see grandma?" to my dog, and my dog got really excited and ran straight to my grandmother's room. I scolded him not to do that anymore. My dog was sad when my grandmother first passed, and would go my grandma's room and lay in her bed or by her rocking chair. Now, she doesn't do that, but I wonder if she still remembers her? What do you think?
