I want your cake recipe.
But pets and owners can form understanding bonds, so if that's how you'd address him if it were reversed, he probably WAS thinking it. You as a good pet owner picked up on his (ping) and heard it like a voice. Happens all the time, and the more you open yourself to other animals, the more you'll hear. I have a cat that never shuts up, and I love him for it.
