Sounds like it might be a scam - I'd never buy a dog sight unseen from a website. There could be English bulldogs in Australia, but I don't know of any Austrailian bulldogs that are a true breed.
http://www.australianbulldog.com/
Even that website says it's "experimental".
The complete AKC list of breed is:
http://www.akc.org/breeds/complete_breed_list.cfm
They register the (English) Bulldog,
http://www.akc.org/breeds/bulldog/index.cfm
and the smaller French Bulldog.
http://www.akc.org/breeds/french_bulldog/index.cfm
There are Bull Terriers and Miniature Bull terriers, but they are very different from the Bulldogs.
http://www.akc.org/breeds/miniature_bull_terrier/index.cfm
There is an American Bulldog (bigger), but they're not AKC registered.

Unfortunatley, it sounds like you are dealing with a disreputable breeder. A bulldog, by AKC definition, is a purebreed. So called "mini bulldogs" are usually mixed with pugs to breed a smaller version of the dog. They cannot be papered and are not true bulldogs. Also, they have the same problems that bulldogs have, only more severe.
I've never heard of Australian bulldogs nor of the Brentwood Bulldog kennel. I would thoroughly research who they are and what they do before buying any dog from them or any breeder for that matter.
A reputable breeder is someone you want to have a long-standing relationship with as they have a wealth of knowledge about the breed and the dog in particulare you are interested in.
If you're interested in bulldogs, you can find reputable breeders (although not guaranteed) on the American Kennel Club website at www.akc.org. I realize as a bulldog owner and breeder I might sound a bit biased, but I breed my dog for the betterment and love of the breed-not to make money.
Good luck!

I have been breeding English Bulldogs for years. I don't know if these exist, but I wouldn't take a chance on buying one. They already have problems with their bodies being so small and heavy. They have a lot of respiratory problems now. I would think that making them smaller would only increase those problems. It sounds like maybe they are mixing pug or something like that in their blood lines. How much does this "mini bulldogs" weigh? I would ask for tons of references. These dogs can't be registered with AKC. They are not a recognized breed. Which means, if they are registered, they are registered with another registry that will consider any mutt a breed. You will dogs registered with them that have tons of health problems. Just because they look cute, doesn't mean they don't have health problems. Make sure they get testing done on the dogs. GOOD LUCK!!!

Other than all the poor grammar I see no problem with their website. I know of other down-sized bulldogs and mixes. AKC is a purist show registry, but not perfect, as long as you aren't set on an AKC paper I wouldn't have a problem with the other legitimate registries. As long as they are upfront about what they are selling (and it sounds like they are) you could procede with normal caution for an internet purchase. For the price they are asking it might be a good idea to fly there and visit the place. Check their references, especially vets (confirm the phone numbers on the internet). If it is a scam they won't have the dogs to show you. Ask the vet how many pups they produce a year. Look at parent pictures, if you don't like them don't get a pup.

I can't say for sure about this breeder, but I have seen mini bulldogs... They are supposed to be 100% bulldog, just smaller. However, one of the reasons bulldogs have so many problems is the way their bodies have been reformed and compacted... I can only imagine that breeding them smaller and smaller would only compound these problems, just as it does in other "mini" breeds.
I would advise against this practice, and against purchasing one of these puppies. The regular ones haven't been bred clear of medical problems yet, and these can only be worse off than the regular ones. (My vet bill would terrify you, and I have a healthy bulldog!)
Always be cautious of breeders, ask for lots of references, and call those references. Research them as much as you can to protect yourself. And ask them a *lot* of questions about their dogs' health, temperament, longevity, etc. And get a health guarantee!
Good luck to you!
Woah! Hold on... I found them. They are a "network of breeders". That's a red flag. Definitely do your research before getting anything from them. See the puppies in their homes, see the parents, see *everything* with your own eyes! And ask *a lot* of questions.
Here's the site... http://www.brentwoodbulldog.com/index.html
I will definitely be reading through this site later on...
Edit Again: This page is of particular interest to you: http://www.brentwoodbulldog.com/id7.html
(MJ and Michelle, you may find it interesting as well... Not happy news, but good info for bulldog breeders to be aware of... and warn people about.)
