Dutch are my favorite. You should choose the breed that's right for your situation, there are pros and cons to every breed. Think about how much space you have and what size rabbit you can accomodate. Also think about what kind of competition you want. A very popular breed will give you lots of competition at a show, but it will probably take longer to be successful unless you invest a lot of money upfront. A rarer breed will give you an opportunity to make your mark, but you may be the only ones showing them.

My favorite breed of rabbit to show is New Zealands or Checkered Giants.

I like New Zealands because the competition in the New Zealand breed is so competitive. They have won more Best in Shows than any other breeds. The reason why is because you really only have to focus on body type and fur if you are raising whites. It is the one breed where you may encounter several Best-In-Show rabbits in one class. In New Zealands, you have to realize that it's all about genetics and showmanship.

I like Checkered Giants because they are so beautiful and are so much fun to watch when you show them. They will capture the entire audience's attention when they go up for Best 6 Class. They will run up and down the table and thump their back feet and turn and spin and have a beautiful high arch with beautiful markings to match. Another thing nice about Checkered Giants is the people that show them. The people that show them are some of the nicest that you'll ever meet and they also will be some of the most interesting people you will ever meet. Checkered Giants have an attitude that it takes a special kind of person to love and I think it shows in the people that raise them. The breed is somewhat hard to handle and when you first meet the people that raise them you might think of them as a little rough around the edges. The guy I had give me my first Checkered Giant totally looked that way. He had tattoes all over, short peppered hair, a weathered face, and looked like he could have been a mafia hitman. Certainly a person when you first met him that would kind of scare you. But he was the nicest person you'd ever meet. He was called the Godfather and the title definitely fit. Many of the best breeders and largest names in the ARBA learned from him. People like Glen Carr, Dr. Terry E. Reed, Caleb Thomas and others. In fact, Glen Carr won Best in Show at one of the ARBA conventions with a baby that came out of two of his rabbits. It was the only Checkered Giant to ever win the National Convention although several others have came close.

As a beginner - I wouldnt recommend any breed that has specific coloring - a friend breeds Dutch, but can have a litter of 4, and only one that's showable. However, i've had great luck personally with Dwarf Hotots - although, they can be rather tempermental. Polish are also really nice - small enough that they're easily handleable (esp by smaller kids), generally calm, and easily breedable. And their colors are very simple!

Easter bunnies were purely made up. they have not some thing to do with Jesus Christ, Or Easter. Eater is about Jesus Christ not Bunnies or Eggs. Do bunnies lay eggs?? No! Black bunnies arent attractive thats why no individual advertizes them! yet in case you want a black bunny for Easter I advise you get the Reeses Peanut Butter Black Bunny or Chocolate Bunnies YUMM!
