My family would like to get a dog. We understand all the resposibilities that go with it. But we do work and would be gone 6-8 hours a day. From all I read and applications I have seen, it seems you must not work to have a dog. Are the only people who own dogs not working? wouldnt it be better to be with a family then in a shelter environment? We would give the dog all the attention it needs except during work hours? Any thoughts?I know about doggie daycare and walkers, etc. Thanks

We have a pet dog(9 months old shih tzu), and we will be leaving on a trip for 30 days. Is it ok to take our pet to other country(India) with us or is it better to leave our littile darling in a pet hostel. It's very difficult for us to leave her alone(she is very much attached to us as we are to her.We are worried that she would miss us and stop eating or get ill health due to the separation anxiety if we checked her into a pet hostel for 30 days), but we are more concerned about her health and safety.
During october-november time that we would be in India the weather is not hot or humid.we are planning to keep her in our house premises along with us.Any one can tell us if is it ok to take our pet to India from USA. If we take her with us we are planning to take her in the cabin. Is it ok for her if she stay's 30 days there in India???
We don't know what we can do with her when we are gone, What solution is best for her?

I have a savanah monitor and he is VERY aggressive. I handle him daily and have had him for over 6 months now. The pet store said he was returned once for aggressive behavior, but I wanted to take on the challenge. I do not mind the abuse with the scratching and hissing, sometimes biting. I just want this beautiful lizard to realize the love my boyfriend and I have for him. We named him Durango and he is currently about a foot and a half long. He is getting older and I do not want him to be this aggressive when he gets around 3-4 feet. Is there ANY tips ANYONE has to help me tame this aggressive monitor.... thanks-- amy & danny

The shelter said she was 2 when I got her in 2000, but the vet I took her to looked at her teeth and said she looked older than that. I say she is almost 8 now but truth is it scares me she could be much older and I dont even know how much? Is there some kind of blood test that can say how old she is?

Almost every time I clean him which is about once a week after he sits in the water it seems like he begins to die. He will float at the surface and seem to begin to turn over on his side like he is dying. after about a full day of making me believe he is going to die all of a sudden he is fine. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong or what is wrong with him would be appreciated

The puppy is a weimaraner. We have had the bird for 5 years. Our bird flies around, lands on people, and tweets all day. He is a happy parakeet! We just need suggestions on how to train the dog to welcome the bird without wanting to eat it!
