In my apartment complex there are a lot of really big dogs. Dalmations, black labs, etc. I don't understand why anyone would keep such a big dog in an apartment. One dog couldn't handle it and broke through the window to get out (twice). I love dogs, but it seems cruel to keep them in such a small home.

do they like to be next to each other so they don't feel lonely (in separate bowls) or do they not know the difference

My dog spends most of the day outside on her large yard run area. In the evening we walk and sometimes hear rustling in bushes: could be racoons, skunks, etc....she is curious and I make sure she does not explore the movement....The other day she chased a chipmunk and got it on the road as it jumped out of a mailbox planted area... Just wondering what other people do/would do from experience or knowledge. What do you feel is the best way is to cut/de-scent the skunk spray if a dog gets a direct hit. Heard about Tomato juice baths, lemon, special scent cutters.....please name products or methods. Most appreciative for the info...hopefully will not have to use the info in the future....we are careful to avoid the darker bushy areas.
Thanks all!!!!!

My husband and I moved in with my parents, in order to save up money to buy our own house. I have 3 cats of my own, my parents have 4 cats. We have a total of 2 females and 5 males. The cats all get along, but I think the males are having a spray war... What can I do to get them under control and stop peeing on EVERYTHING?

I have a male chihuaua, very petite. I've had him since a puppy and he's now 2. About a year ago he began having seizures. Im not sure what is causing them. I make sure he's eating enough. They just happen soo randomly. When he is going to have one..he comes to me to let me know. He will lose his balance where he cannot stand at all and his legs stiffen. Other than that he is ok..he doesnt convulse. I usually offer him sugar water (I think he's diabetic) and just hold him and talk him through it and he's fine. There have been no side effects. Vet wanted $2,000 just to run tests to tell me whats causing it. Anyone have a chi with the same issue? Or one with diabeties? Please help me to understand this more and please no rude comments about how I should take him to the vet and spend the money on him....I love my dog like a child and he means the world to me. I dont need lecturing! Thank you!

I have been thinking about the behavior of a dog as a little puppy, but how much it could cost. I am planning to get a dog in the near future that can stay in a three-floor apartment, and exercise near the parks and playgrounds in the area.

We have a cat that was the runt of the litter...skin and bones. When she got her first abcess we took her in to the vet and had her tested for leukemia and feline aids. The next couple of abcesses came and she healed fine. Although each time she seems weaker and is of dimished capacity. She doesn't seem to be "there" if you know what I mean. She will respond to petting and such.......but just seems to be weaker and not a happy camper. My question is do we let her get possibley weaker and get more infections... from which she might not recover? Or do we euthanize her to release her from her misery? She is very loved and we are having a difficult time deciding. The vet goes either way...... Thanks for sharing your opinions!

I have three indoor cats, all have claws. I just buy those Trader Joe's scratching pads with cattnip, and they seem to love it. I also cut their nails regularly. They hate that, but they have learned that it is part of their bi-weekly routine. They are pretty spoiled though, I must admit.

I went to my vet for annual shots - 3rd vet same place in 1 year! I do not trust him - dog shows no symptoms or pain. Her leg did pop out when manually manipulated.

The dogs eat different food for health reasons. The Chihuahua tries to eat the Lab's food and now he's eating his poop as well.

My family and I recently found out about a puppy that we want. We found it on the Mercury News [internet] on the pet ads. But the thing is, since it IS on the internet, I am wondering if it is a pet scam or not, someone who just wants to take our money away. This person supposedly claims that he went to Africa last week or so working on the CHAD-CAMEROON PIPELINE PROJECT, and he took his puppy with him, and he wants a Western money transfer or something, and ship the puppy to the US. He seems a bit eager to make the deal, saying that he wants to send the puppy today and things like that. How do we know if he's a pet scammer? Please help.
