When you give them food, call it by name and say "Come" and praise it. Say, " Good (say the dog's name), Good come." You are laying ground work for obedience training, which I recomend for all dogs, even toy breeds. It teaches you how to train them without driving both of you nuts. It is also good quality time too.

Use a treat like very small pieces of broiled chicken. Get the dog's attention; don't train when a puppy is tired or right before they're ready to eat. Say the name and treat - say the name and treat. Do this 30 to 50 times in a row every day until the dog responds. Another trick. Have someone hold the dog. You stand next to it and show a treat. Then run away from the dog a short ways, turn and call the dog. When it comes to you treat. This teaches the name and also to come when called. You can also use a portion of the dogs food for the day as treats so it doesn't over eat. Never scold the dog if it doesn't respond right away. Good luck. A well trained dog is a joy.

Have someone help you with this, grab some treats and the puppy and take it to a spot in the house where she is very well confined ( I like to use the space between my coffee table and couch) have the other person take some treats and sit close by and keep calling the dog by its name and give it a treat when it comes to you, only do this a couple of time, but do it several times a day because young puppies get bored real easily.

When ever you feed the puppy or it does something good, you say the name over and over and then pet it and say the name over again, do this for a couple of days then call the puppy over by the name and when the comes over its going to know that's to what it has to respond to.

Put the dog across the room from you and give her / him a treat when ever it responds to its name. Don't punish the animal for not responding. Rewarding is by far more influential plus it leaves no negative feelings in the dog towards you.

let the pup on the leash, call it's name, and gently pull it towards you. after a couple of days of doing this.... you can start clapping your hands and calling the pups name. eventually she will get the idea

Keep repeating her/his name and when she/he turns around to look at you or comes to you pat their head. It's also very important to not call her/him with different names at first because it might confuse her/him and it will be harder and longer.
