My dog gets lonely when he is at home alone. We have found that when he is home alone he does not eat or drink. He just lays around. We are considering getting another dog to keep him company but... He is a basset/ lab mix and very mellow. What kind of dog can we get that will have the same type of personality as him?

I'm a single woman, I'll be moving into a house soon, alone, and I want to get a guard dog, but I have no previous experience with owning one. I love animals and I'm a responsible person. I was just wondering what breeds I should consider. I know that smaller dogs can be reliable guard dogs, however, these dogs cannot pin down a large man, if need be. Any help would be great.

My dog felt hot around his ears and on his back when I left for work this morning. Can this indicate a fever? He was acting sleepy, which is not abnormal. I don't have a rectal thermometer, but will run out and get one if necessary...

yesterday when i was coming back from work on my way back in our street i found this injured bird,i didnt see any blood or anything on his wing but he couldnt fly so i brought him/her home.I have called few animal clinics and no one treats the birds,the one who does are closed for some reason.What i can i do to make the birdy feel better meanwhile,i will take the birdy to a clinic soon.Any good tips?Its only birdy's wing that birdy cant move.

my sisters cat bit my hand & the cut is really deep and my whole hand hurts and is swollen because of the small yet deep cut. ive put peroxide&banaids on it but my hand is still swollen and i cant move it because its too painful too...is this normal?

Not in those exact words but translated from kitty talk. Sounds like "kak-ka-kaa". My mum and I try to stop piss ourselves laughing when my cat is demanding that he wants to do something bold like stay on the dining the table. It's a battle of the wills. I ask becuase I have had 13 cats in my life and non have had tantrums and strong-will like himself.

My guinea pigs ears has no hair on them any more and looks like she scratch them so bad that the ears looked like they were chewed on! I got her from a friend who NEVER cleaned it's cage She very happy with her new home! What can I do about her ears so that I don't have to take it to the vet!

i was driving last night, and i say a possum on the side of the road. a LIVING,BREATHING, possum. he stepped out on the road, looked at me and wiggled his nose and turned around and ran the opposite direction! he didnt try to get hit!

Whenever I'm drinking soda no matter the kind (I've tried Mountain Dew, Coke, and some others) all of my cat seem pissed off and won't get anywhere near the can when I move it toward them, and they often hiss and run away. So what does the soda do to them?

Okay, so for the last year my rabbit has been in a cage on the floor with a litterbox. He used the litterbox regularly. I decided it was becoming to gross and too much hassle to clean the litterbox all the time so i invested in a hellish expensive and nice cage with a grated floor so he could just let go where ever he pleased. The problem is that he still insists on peeing in the corner(his box was in the corner) and it sprays out onto the wall and puddles on the floor. I put something in his favorite corner to prevent him from doing it, but he still presses himself along the edge to pee and it somehow misses the bigggg basin that it's supposed to go into. I'm unsure how to teach him otherwise since it's hard to catch him in the act and there's no consquence for peeing there so he won't learn on his own.

Any ideas, please?

I have this cat, which my mom has about had enough with. Lately she has been peeing on the couch on the same spot, we have tried all kinds of spray and cleaning to remove the odor, and to get the cat to stay away from the couch but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions on what to do--because we have had the couch cleaned but that costs 70 bucks a pop, and we just can't throw money like that out the window. Any ideas on what to try next? please help--i wouldn't want to get rid of her, but i might have to.
