the best thing you can do, is put him in a shoe box, or other "box-like" thing with a lid...
put towels inside it to keep him "swaddled" and comfy. put holes in the lid to allow ventilation...but the lid will make it dark, and quiet.
make sure he is in an out of the way place, where no loud noise is.
birds can be easily stressed out.
you want him, calm, rested, and comfy.
when the clinic is open take him in.
you can try some water in a dropper if you think he is dehydrated, and call an emergency vet clinic..or the wild life office for any advice on what to do in the mean-time.

if it is its wing and you are sure it is not some kind of bird virus wrap up its wing the same way you would to a persons arm. Keep the bird outside or in your gatrage (in a cage) just in case it is sick, you dont want to get yourself or anyone ealse in the house sick too.

I've got a lot of links to wildlife carers from a lot of countries on my site, at
http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/links under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, click on your country and state, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice.

Very very best of luck.

I had this exact problem.

See my question here, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av6s2l.KJ7iIr6kp8Ntd4a7sy6IX?qid=20060620100316AAP3suM

What I did was to take the bird to the local animal shelter. They took care of it for me. They said they knew several local people/charities that rehabilitate and release wild birds.

Good luck.
