Studies are showing that animals really do have emotions and intelligence - and I think that you should really find a way to give your cat more attention. Imagine if it was you cooped up at home all day and no one to talk to and your best friend was never there. Wouldn't you feel a little choked??? If I had to be away that much - I would either get a second cat or have a friend come by and stay with my kitty - or take the cat with me. Give your kitty LOTS of attention when you are there. Make him/her feel special. Talk to him/her and brush them (it helps their self-esteem) and just do things to make them feels special. But honestly if you plan on being away that much - show your kitty some respect - either take her with you - or get someone to keep her company. If you get a second cat - they both need attention too - even though them having each other will help - you can't treat them like a plant. Your cat has always been there for you .... love comes when it is deserved. Try and find more balance and spend more time with your kitty.

Do not do what Glimlach said.. That's morbid and could kill your cat.. Try and see if Gramma will let you bring her along?? If not bring her home a new toy and some treats.. Play with her and the new toy as much as possible, so that way she won't feel left out so much.. Not only that but you gotta realize with you gone, she's lonely, maybe get another cat so she has a companion?? That would really help out...

You have to know the most important irritable thing : cat doesn't know how to love. Pleasure, joy are their only satisfactions. If your cat ignores you that means it found something or somebody who give it more affection or just more attention to it. Cats know how to choose the one who treats it the best... You were worse than another one, you got rejected... don't worry too much... just try to pay lots of attention to it again... you left it often alone... it's comprehensible : when your friends leave you, don't you try to make some other friends? The cat just do the same thing, but instead of friends, it just needs someone to touch it, to feed it etc...

First of all, DON'T put sleeping pills in her food, what a ridiculous suggestion, and potentially dangerous!! Cats are funny critters, you are lucky if one allows you to be their person! She misses you when you're gone, and ignoring you is her way of punishing you for it. Give her a treat, brush her and treat her like the queen she obviously is, and she'll get over her little snit quicker.

usually when the cat grows older, they become less affectionate. they are the cutest when they are still kittens -- they want attention all the time. same with dogs actually, i mean at least with dogs they crave for attention even if they're grown already, but as puppies -- they are more helpless, and that's probably why they are so close to you. they feel vulnerable, like they can't protect their own selves. when they grow up, i guess they start to think that they can take care of themselves so they become independent.

Cats are finiky creatures...see, they " own " you-and not you., them...your cat will come around-get an old hair brush-brush it well ( your cat ) this time of year cats get hot and sluggish, and shed quite a bit as well, so brushing it will feel so good to the animal...and then, i gaurantee it will come whenever you call it again-and be mighty glad to see you-
hope this helps, and good luck to you.

When you are home, give the cat extra love and attention. Spend time with her, stroke her and tell her how pretty she is and how much you love her. If she has a favorite treat, hand feed it to her if possible, they love being hand fed.

she loves you. she has just got an attitude because you arent spending enough time with her. she is used to being the center of your world, and now she has kind of taken a backseat. This happened to me when i had my first baby. I just made sure to spend at least 30 minutes a day playing with her. and some special treats wouldnt hurt, either.

i have the same problem with my cat but here is what you do
when you come home always bring a treat for your cat call her/his name and after she eats it take her sit with her somewhere and pet if you do that every time you come home i guarantee that your kitty will love you
P.S. don't forget to play with her as much as you can
