I dont like the dips, some can burn like hell. And the rest dont work. I use frontline plus, it works great. You can buy it from your vet or any animal supply store. Not expensive either. If your dog is infested already, before applying the frontline, bathe him with dawn dishsoap, it will kill all fleas and ticks, no joke. The only problem is it doesnt last. After bathing, when dog is completely dry, apply the frontline. Also, treat your yard, house, wherever the dog stays.

I really prefer the spot treatments to dips. Less irritating to sensitive skin and they really work. If you have cats, check which products are safe around felines. One in particular can kill a cat.
I use Frontline!
Cedar chips affect a dog's ability to smell, so I'd avoid that.

There are flea baths with oatmeal in them to keep their skin from drying out. I would go with that. My dog has sensitive skin and when he gets fleas we use that and it works.

I know this sounds quite odd but it works.
Dawn original liquid dish soap.
The original is safe on dogs and kill fleas and ticks. Just make sure you rub it in well before you rinse.
Good luck.

Honestly, some dogs are so sensitive to chemicals, etc. I sure wouldn't use those products on myself so I'm not about to use them on my pets!
I have chosen the "natural" route.
I feed my dogs garlic in their food from early spring to late fall, this repels ticks & fleas.
I also use cedar shavings in their outdoor sleeping areas, which is a natural repellent & inside I stuff fresh cedar shavings in their doggy beds. It's worked for me 5+ years. :-)
You can also use citrus, lemon, orange...but I've never tried, because I have such great success with the garlic.
Brewer's yeast also works, I had to use it for awhile when one of our dogs didn't like garlic. :-)
