IT IS NOT RABIES.
Rabies takes weeks to incubate befor the patient shows visible symptoms. It has taken as long as one year plus on rare occasions. The long incubation time gives the patient time to undergo the 3 shot anti rabies vaccine. A no sweat treament (compared to the previous Pasteur "treatment" which used to consist of 15 injections into the stomach muscle. nasty but the alternative was worse death.)
BUT a bite is a serious business. Evewn a human bite. Why because our mouths, and also, animal's mouths are veritable microbial zoos. And many of those bugs are pathogenic (disease causing). &/or produce toxins that cause problems. The Tetanus (lockjaw), organism Chlostridium tetani is one such customer.
Get to the emergency room of a nearby hospital and have your hand checked. You have a rip-roaring infection. and it can quickly progress to cellulitis or general septicemia. (blood poisoning).
Find out if the beast had rabies shots. Also check to see when you last had a tetanus shot (& tetanus anti-toxoid).
You'll get the latter two shots if you don't know.
You'll also be put on a broad spectrum antibiotic. (perhaps intravenus, but that's less likely). The diagnostic gang then take cultures to determine the infective organism, and also antibiotic susceptibility cultures.
Animal bites were always taken very seriously in the emergncy room. Especially those done by humans.
Call a cab & get to the e.r., (stat), no joking.
Good luck,

Cats are one of the worst animals to be bitten by, they infect very easily and because of the length of their teeth they can get you really deep. When you put peroxide on it, you may not have gotten it in deep enough. You should go to the hospital if your tetanus vaccine is out of date and see your doctor about some topical ointment or antibiotics for your hand.

I was attacked by a cat once. I was put on antibiotics for a week to prevent infection. I would suggest you go to your family doctor and have the wound checked it sounds like you may have an infected wound.

Go to the doctor NOW! You can get several bacterial infections and disease (even if vaccinated for rabies) any puncture wound is dangerous. It is very important to have the wound cleansed properly and to take a course of antibiotics. Not to mention a tetanus shot if you are due for one.

You will be fine, something in the cat's system that makes us have an allergic reaction. The swelling will go down eventually (later in the day) and it may be itchy for some time. Baby powder or "Gold Bond" helps with easing the discomfort.

This is normal for the beginning of a major inflection. You need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Cat bites get inflected far more often than dog bites.

you need anti-biotics for it. the cat's fangs are not sterile, and they went inside your skin and this can cause infection. your doctor needs to prescribe you some anti-biotics for it.
also make sure the cat has been vaccinated for rabies, so i suggest you get tested for it too. you will know when the cat is rabid, the host (the cat) will die within one week before the victim. not to scare you, but it's true. my sister was bit by her own gerbil -- that's what the doctor said -- to observe the animal.
