set it free - it may be hard to do, but it's best for your frog.

AH! this is an easy problem to solve. there are two things you can do. I learned both these methods at the zoo i work at because well we had the safe exact problem. So (a). Take off the hopper legs.In case you don't kow what these are, these are the two legs (one on each side) that are kind of taller. In the joint of the leg , pinch it. If you pinch this joint hard enough it was actually self-tear the hopper leg off. This keep the cricket from hopping everywhere and/or escaping the predator. (b). Another choice is pinching the cricket. In this case you grab the cricket and use your thumb nail to put pressure on the top side of the crickets head. So where the head and the thorax meet is where you pinch it. This keeps the cricket alive so it can still show movement(therefore making it more appetizing to the animal) and easy to catch. (c). This of course is a last resort, that shouldn't have to be taken. Do 1 of the two previous methods shown above and grab some forceps and feed the cricket to the frog. Best of luck. If you need any help just gimme an email, and maybe we can figure out some good ways to help your frog.

There's plenty of food you can food your frog besides crickets and mealworms (mealworms should be fed sparingly anyway). You could try earthworms, waxworms, spiders, ants, beatles, or small fish such as feeder guppies.
You could also try putting your crickets in the refrigerator for about 15-30 minutes before feeding them to your frog, to slow them down a bit.

Are you sure that that specific frog species eats crickets? Maybe try larger/smaller crickets, and see what happens. Get a new tank and try mealworms-- mealworms "not working well with your tank" is NOT (in my opinion) a reason to let your frog starve.

mealworms would work the best because the move around but are not fast enough to get away from the frog. Also if you got crickets pull one of there legs off so they cant get away to easily.

Catch houseflies with a net and pull one wing off. (I know this might seem cruel to some people, but just think about how flies vomit on your food when they land on it and then suck it up, and the frog is going to eat it anyway.) This way the fly will crawl around but will be imbalanced so it can't move fast enough to get away from your frog.

You could break the crickets hind legs so as they can't hop away . All you have to do is pinch them at the knee section and they will eventually fall off. I used to have a gecko that this was the only way he would be able to catch his crickets.

Most pet stores carry Tongs. They are really long. Clip the meal worn or cricket to the tongs and hand feed. There should be half "land" and half water. If not you do not have the tank set up properly.
