I hop onto yahoo this morning with a bit of time to kill. I figure i'll look at what's going on in the world. The front page has Britney getting a speeding ticket, Dog-Chewed Vick Cards on Ebay, Flip Flops that are going to kill us all, and some couple getting married in a flood. Further down are the newest 'celebrity candid' photos.

Aren't there more important things going on in the world? Is this really the best that Yahoo could come up with?

I know it is a awful thing to ever happen to anyone and I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy.

But do you think the one good thing to come out of it, is that people will watch their children more whilst on holiday?

Or do you think that people will continue to leave their children unattented???

Everyone knows that just heating up metal causes it to bend and lose strength, so why do 9-11 conspiracy theorist believe that the twin tower steel beams would have to "melt" in order to fall?

Are the parents of other missing children living off fund money?

When in the hell are they going to STOP drilling holes in the ground that are only big enough to get a camera through?? Why not get a bulldozer, and everything else they can find, and start breaking ground?? So what if the camera had found them the FIRST time, what would they have done? They would've been breaking ground!! This is absolutely ridiculous. It makes us look like bumbling idiots. And for them to think about not retrieving the bodies for the families to have a funeral???

I'm so angry that they have not done something other than drill holes.......

Anyone w/me?

Why do Pro-McCann people constantly refer to a Portugese 'Secrecy Law' to defend Gerry and Kate from speculation. This so called 'Secrecy Law' (and I doubt there are any Portugese lawyers posting here) only seems to apply to the McCanns and the Tapas 9 and nobody else. Firstly this is a UK Yahoo answers and secondly most of us can only read English and quote from UK media Souces - so why do Pro-McCann people constantly refer to a Portugese 'Secrecy Law' ?

Yaweh - Allah - Jehovah: Awful Lawful to all it's believers.
Every way you look at Law vs Law it's as Loser vs Loser.

Law: God of division(war), in midst of L/R sides wars
Grace: God of peace: neither makes nor takes sides

Law: God on high in midst of plural L/R heavens
Grace: God in heaven: "higher than the heavens"

2Tim3: un-holy...high-minded: from such turn away

Grace with you all. Amen.

Is this another ruse to take our minds off of important things like war, gas prices, the subhuman treatment of other human beings. I know this came up before Carl Roves resignation but who do you think come up with this crap to take our minds off of thr real world. Now he will get off scott free for starting that war & trying to Americanize the middle east & Little bushie is left holding the bag or his hand in the cookie jar & will take the rap for all of it as well he should for listening to the rats that are abandoning this sinking ship.

The reason I ask is because it does seem so. What happened to Rys JOnes is absolutly devasting and horrible and should not have happened. It seems so many are outraged as you should be but in the US this happens so often you don't even hear about it except maybe 30 seconds on your local news station. A while back I had asked why British Police did not carry guns and my sons British Soccer coach was telling me the other day they sign them out if they need them but for the most part they don't need them. I sure hope in your country immigration stops the gun smuggling and the authorities figure out how these folks that get them and spends some time and money doing so. I would hate for you to have to live in the fear of irresponsible gun use as we do here in the US. You can buy a gun in the US at Walmart and while I understand hunting is a really big sport something has to happen to stop making it so darn easy to get them.

reading this article is quite hypocritical, he wants the media to be "low key" now but not before, maybe the pressure of the truth is getting to him , if he stops begging for donation, meeting top officials, being a guest at the Edinburgh festival, maybe the media will stop.

I don't quite understand why the owner of the Utah mine is giving up. He wouldn't want his family member buried in a mine instead of having an honorable and proper burial. What are they planning on doing, leave them down there forever? He doesn't have to risk lives by sending any more people in the mine, but heck, keep drilling until you find bodies. I wouldn't care how much it cost, even If I have to raise money on the street....Dig those bodies up!

This has got to be a nightmare for those people.

“Kate and I were incredibly shocked to hear of the news [of Rhys Jones]. It is a terrible waste of a young life. They, of course, have our sympathy,” he said.

He added that he hoped Rhys’s parents were given time to grieve. But he revealed some of his own torment in a direct comparison between the McCann and the Jones families.

“Both sets of parents are in the middle of terrible traumas. They, however, will have closure. We don’t,” he said. "

So even with your son shot to death with a bullet in an instance of neither Rhys or his parents making, they are still in a better position than poor Gerry.

The absolute cheek of the man knows no bounds!

Why are they so reluctant to come forward and help the police solve this murder?

2007-08-25 23:21:04 · 3 answers · asked by Dr Watson (UK) 5

A police spokesman on tv news has just said that Rhys was in the wrong place at the wrong time!
This despite the boys father previously saying that this conclusion was unacceptable & wrong.
His Son was going about his normal life doing what he always did in the place he always did.
I think it is an appalling statement for the police to say & is just a way for them to avoid any responsibility for what has happened!
The police are paid to protect innocent people from acts such as this & they are failing to do so despite having all the powers they could possibly need!
Where, why, wasn't there a police prescense in the area as there used to be when I was young?
A policeman lived in & was part of every community & was known to & knew everyone!
It was a much safer environment to live in then.
Now the police are segregated from the public who they are trained to see as criminals.
It's time we had a police force we deserve & pay for, they are failing us miserably!
What do you think?

I really think that the media is a huge part of this problem. Cho mailed that tape to NBC knowing full well it would get blasted out there, and even though he died, he got what he wanted - these crazy people do these things for the negative attention and the media needs to quit giving it to them, and I think if they do quit these events will slow down.

I really believe people died because the media keeps blasting this stuff.

it's like a kid who misbehaves, usually if you ignore them they quit. If you give them negative attention they keep acting up. It's the same thing. These killers are just like spoiled little kids.

somebody please listen to me before more people die.

Seriously, instead of putting the best that America has to offer out on the front lines to die for our country and leave behind their families and children, why don't we just take all the rapists, serial killers, and child molesters and convicts of that nature and send them out on the front line. Think about it. We'd be ridding society of its worst members, let alone the fact that most of them would be seeing a death row sentence anyway. Also, the argument of "they're people too, ya know" is null and void. The minute a person decided to kill and rape and break the law, their well being means nothing anymore. Their rights are no longer in question since they didn't care when they did their crime. I'd much rather hear that 40 serial killers and child molesters died in the war on terror one day on the news instead of hearing about good men and women dying out there. Think about it.

Another victory was won last night (Saturday) in a London pub against the Smoking Ban in pubs when one drunk lighting a cigarette prompted a spontaneous demonstration of people power when he was asked to leave by the door staff. He was very quickly surrounded by 20 other people, all strangers, who quickly lit up cigarettes to join him. Word quickly spread within the local area and by the time the Police arrived there was close to 80 people all smoking and drinking in the pub.

The Police very wisely decided to withdraw and advised the landlord not to prevent people smoking as it was likely to cause a breach of the peace. The landlord was very happy with this news as his pub had not been this busy on a Saturday night since long before the ban and very quickly produced a whole box of stored ashtrays. A GREAT NIGHT WAS HAD BY ALL!!!

Have you had this happen in your area yet? How long can this stupid law survive if people decide to act together with total strangers in this way? It was fantastic to witness and be a part of.

Seems to me like they have no code of conduct requirements for who they will represent is what I'm saying. I mean, standing up for Mike Vick well, that really has nothing at all to do with Vick being black so why do they want to tell the NFL how to run it's business when the man is guilty of serious crimes? Where do they come off saying 'Ok, he's a bad guy, did some bad things, but we dont' think you should run your business the way you want to'.
How do they justify doing this?
I'm all for equality so let the man be judged as a man, not as a special man because his skin is the correct color to gain the support of the NAACP.

This is astonishing - a statement from Gerry McCann saying that they will be scaling down the campaign to find their missing daughter. Considering we have be talking, watching, reading about it for the last three months, why scale the media attention now? She's not been found yet...

Gerry McCann also said about the Liverpool family devastated by their son's murder.

"Kate and I were incredibly shocked to hear of the news [of Rhys Jones]. It is a terrible waste of a young life. They, of course, have our sympathy,” he said.

He added that he hoped Rhys’s parents were given time to grieve. But he revealed some of his own torment in a direct comparison between the McCann and the Jones families.

Amazing...
