Does the NAACP have any expectations out of famous African Americans for their conduct?

Seems to me like they have no code of conduct requirements for who they will represent is what I'm saying. I mean, standing up for Mike Vick well, that really has nothing at all to do with Vick being black so why do they want to tell the NFL how to run it's business when the man is guilty of serious crimes? Where do they come off saying 'Ok, he's a bad guy, did some bad things, but we dont' think you should run your business the way you want to'.
How do they justify doing this?
I'm all for equality so let the man be judged as a man, not as a special man because his skin is the correct color to gain the support of the NAACP.

Here's my background :
Went to Wash U in St Louis. Graduated with a African and African American Bachelors. Now I'm a doctor.

Here's my take:
The NAACP WAS a valuable group from the early 1900's through the 50's and 60's. The were instrumental in helping black people get to where we are today.
That said, they've been irrelevent in the political world since the 80's. Mainly because they take up stupid causes like this.

They are way past their prime and MOST of the black people I know don't really care what they do now a days.

You probably shouldn't either.

Sadly, I believe you are for the most part ,correct in your criticism of the NAACP. I am African American and was saddened by the attempt by an NAACP official to uphold the actions, and plea for re admittance into the hearts of the fans of Michael Vick.
To risk the reputation of such an old and honored organization by trying to diminish the ugliness of his actions is to me, doing a gross disservice to that fine organization.

The NAACP has taken 50 steps backwards in defending this guy. There must be some payola involved somewhere.
