Is the latest stance by the Pro-McCanns that if you have not got children you cannot give an answer - I did not read that in the terms and conditions. Personally I have three children, and when they were 4, 3 and 18 months did not go to Greece and Portugal, leave them in a creche all day then on their own every night while I and Mrs 17pdr went out drinking and eating with friends - I still have 3 children (grown ups).

The conditions of the fund according to the McCanns can be found here:

http://www.findmadeleine.com/fund/#t

One of the principle aims of the fund is 'To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine’s family'. So IF the McCanns are living off their savings etc and are not using the fund for support why was it set up ? The other aims ie 'to secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007' and 'To procure that Madeleine’s abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice' is the job of the Portugese Police, and there is little evidence apart from meeting the Pope and running a series of interviews that the McCanns or the Company running the fund are attempting these aims.

The other aim of the fund 'If the above objects are fulfilled then the objects of the Foundation shall be to pursue such purposes in similar cases arising in the United Kingdom, Portugal or elsewhere' seems wishful thinking to me. There are already long established charities doing exactly that in both Portugal and the UK. Rather than create yet another, no doubt any remainder of the fund could be given to a Portuguese charity with similar aims.

One last point about the fund is that if it is truely to be used in 'Leaving No Stone Unturned', surely some of it should be used to look at the role of the McCanns themselves in their neglect of Madeleine right at the start ?

Puzzling is it not? An estimated 30,000 (figures vary, according to the source) children go missing every year, and no publicity whatsoever, what do the parents of all these missing children feel on seeing this in the news every day? As for the fund money collected, that should be donated to a fund to help other children, not spent on buying a holiday home in Portugal and a world tour for the
McCanns. If they are found guilty, the house should be sold and the money given to another fund also.

Darren M is a father of a 14 year old girl and talks like that? No wonder some children these days don't have a chance in life before it even starts.

Yes, Darren, I have a 3 year old daughter, and I stopped talking like that when I was about 12.

well, the have £1million in the fund and have spent approximatley £70,000 on finding maddie. That should tell you what sort of people they are.

slh74 is a bit of a worry isn't she - clearly she thinks the McCanns have done nothing wrong (she has children of her own which is a double concern! lol) and she says they can spend "their" money on what they want. Doesn't she realise that it's money donated by the kind hearted public in the belief it would help them find maddie. I reckon she is a McCann in disguise! lol - some people are so deluded!

who knows. Gery said he might return to work at a low key, He probaly does'nt feel like saving people's life's after being hung, drawn ,and quarted, without any evidence that him or his wife had any thing to do with their daughters disappearance.
I dont agree with small children being left on their own. but that is up to the courts to decide if they are going to press charges against them ,so all lets wait and see what happens.

They will not need to live off the fund. There will be the book deals, the movie rights, the merchandising etc. Do not worry about them. They will do just fine.

They will live off the fund money which has been donated into their company.

Well the cleverly worded conditions of the fund mean that the money is all theirs and they can effectively do what they want with it.
