When in the hell are they going to STOP drilling holes in the ground that are only big enough to get a camera through?? Why not get a bulldozer, and everything else they can find, and start breaking ground?? So what if the camera had found them the FIRST time, what would they have done? They would've been breaking ground!! This is absolutely ridiculous. It makes us look like bumbling idiots. And for them to think about not retrieving the bodies for the families to have a funeral???
I'm so angry that they have not done something other than drill holes.......
Anyone w/me?

Kathy--I'm glad you're not my nurse! I would expect you to have more compassion for people. Don't judge me. I haven't judged anyone. I'm just frustrated that people aren't doing more. These innocent people are dead, when they had a chance to be rescued! I'm not one of those people that ***** about something and won't do anything about it. If I could be there and do something I would. Would you like to pay for my trip????????

If they would have used bulldozers, the whole thing could have caved, any hit they could have made could have crushed the people. They had to be careful, and then if they knew that there were live people in there it still would have been a process to make sure that nothing caved in. That is why they were talking about sending food down in a tube. They tried to go in with their equipment but people died trying. Even if they went in and used bulldozers now while the people are probably dead, a buldozer could rip the bodies, or if there was a cave in the bodies would be lost. Its not just some tiny little mountain. Nobody knows how far down they are or anything, they just have a few ideas, plus it is pretty deep down into the mine. It would be nice if it were that easy, I feel for those families and the people down there, but it is a process that is not easy. These people have stopped their work to get these people, they are losing money, don't you think they would be finding the missing people as fast as they could. i feel bad for everyone involved, it has got to be a pretty hard time.

Because it is ROCK, not ground, that they would be breaking. It would take a bunch more time than the holes. Because there are multiple chambers and until they know where the miners are, expending on all that time "bull-dozing" would be pointless...not to mention dangerous for those who were manning the bulldozers...remember the 3 rescuers that got killed when they tried to go in?
Armchair quarterbacking may be an interesting pass time for you, but that's about all the value it has...entertaining you.
Edit: Carla, Good intentions don't fix anything...just make you feel better. Just today they announced they broke through into yet another chamber filled with rubble. Imagine "bull-dozing" into each empty chamber. They'd be at it this time next year. I have lots of compassion...but I also have common sense.

The experts say it will take 4-6 weeks to drill a hole from the top large enough to get a man-sized capsule into. And, they don't know exactly where to dig. They've been drilling small holes (that each take about 2 days) trying to locate bodies so they will know where to dig a larger hole.
Bulldozing from the top could take 6 months ... lots of rock to move, without knowing exactly where to bulldoze.

When some thing like this happens we want quick answers and solutions. as bad as I feel for all involved there is no quick and simple way. They may never get them out because of the danger to others. This is tough, but should more people risk there life to get them out? would you be willing to let some one you love go in there? We should never forget those that died or the families. But need to move on and honor them with better mine safety and planing for the minors that are still at risk. Its a very dangerous job and there will always be a chance for cave In's

Go grab a bulldozer and go to Utah, then you'll realize how stupid what you just said is. Break ground, huh. It's just as easy as that... LMAO
But yeah, they need to stop drilling holes. Those miners were probably dead within minutes of the original collapse. Sure, they should try to get them out, but... they DID try. And more people died. The only answer at this point is to realize those guys are gone, and move on.

That is a very good question. The reason they are drilling the bore holes is to try to find the exact location of the minors. They could be in any one of at least 5 places underground. It would be impossible to dig a large rescue tunnel without knowing their exact location.

It took 8 months to retrieve the bodies of the miners killed several years back in the Scotia Coal Mine in Kentucky. The retrieval puts the workers in much danger and therefore it is a slow process. You are right. It truly is very frustrating.

I wonder why they don't use the resources available through the military. They can use a device that picks up distubances in heat transference.
