I am suppose to go to this ski lodge but the place boasts knotty pine walls. I hate those! They are creepy. Look like eyes are looking at you, especially in a dimly lit room with a fireplace.

I live in a small apartment with no storage or closets, the only place to keep my plunger is right next to the toilet. Is there a way to "disguise" it?

I live in a rental and want to start spring cleaning. So any tips on what to do, where to get started and tricks to make the jobs easier. I also want to make things look newer and cleaner without breaking the bank since I don't own the place. I have kids, so you can imagine the marks all over the place.

I heat with wood, and where I keep it is downhill from my den door. The path is covered in sawdust (4-6 in deep) from cutting, splitting, etc. I use a wheelbarrow to go to the door, and am having trouble. At first I left the tire a little soft to float better, but it's been getting squirrely. I now pumped up the tire to max, and it's like a rock. But when I get to the deep chips, it stops cold . Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

A while back when I was in Brazil I noticed that shop assistants when wrapping a parcel they used a nifty trick to cut twine without using any cutting tools, just their bare hands. It looked like a knot they tied on the one hand and with the other with a swift tug they snapped the twine miraculously. Could someone please show a how-to ? Thank you.

Hi there-I have read over some of the Q&A already posted for white noise while sleeping & I need some recommendations.
I have always slept w/ a fan since I was a kid and cant do without it.I've tried radio but anything like the TV that produces light in the room or radio that has anything but a constant unbreaking sound annoys me and wakes me.I currently use a VERY loud fan to sleep w/ but to get the sound as loud as I need it I have to run it on high.I have 2 dogs who are NOT happy with that situation during the winter months who sleep in my room.It has been below 0 F here in temps this week so a fan is just too cold.Even turning it the other way-the air still circulates back into the room and is freezing my doggies. My question is: I have seen some white noise machines online but never tried them in person as I am really rural and have no stores that sell these things close. I need recommendations on some that provide really LOUD noise similar to a fan. Thanks!

I leave my kitchen light on all evening, it is a fluorescent tube. I know they take more energy turning them on, that why i do it, but is there a time limit where it becomes uneconomical to leave it on and should be turned off. e.g if i know i will be away from it for an hour, will it take more energy turning it off and on again later than just leaving it on?

I am moving soon, and have lots of books, maybe one or two hundred. What would be the best size (approximate dimensions) of a box that can carry several books at once but not be too heavy? I want to avoid the risk of back injuries.

We have mice in our attic! We hear them at night and in the very early morning. We put baited glue traps up there and got nothing. We got a cat because we saw them run into the fireplace from the livingroom twice. We haven't seen them in the house since the cat, but hear them a lot in the attic.
We put up regular traps baited with cheese all over the place in the attic and we caught one mouse and nothing since but we still hear all the noise. There are now 6 glue and 6 regular traps up there and nothing getting caught!! I just switched to peanut butter for bait so I hope that helps. Any advice? I don't want our kids getting sick from this nonsense.
