I heat with wood, and where I keep it is downhill from my den door. The path is covered in sawdust (4-6 in deep) from cutting, splitting, etc. I use a wheelbarrow to go to the door, and am having trouble. At first I left the tire a little soft to float better, but it's been getting squirrely. I now pumped up the tire to max, and it's like a rock. But when I get to the deep chips, it stops cold . Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Seriously consider changing to a 2 wheel cart. There are wheelbarrows available with 2 front wheels. The advantage to a 2 wheel cart/wheelbarrow, is that it is easier to control.. less likely to tip over (especially if the wheels are spread apart a bit, for balance)

You might even be able to modify your existing wheel barrow.

Wheels can be purchased at most 'farm' stores, some hardware stores, and the large building supply chains.

I believe D-R machinery company even has a self propelled cart -- heheh.. that would be handy with having to come uphill with a full load.

Good Luck.

You're not putting enough liquid gas solution onto the tire. What you need to do is pump the tire to a medium psi. After that when you get to the deep chips the gas solution will come into play and spread the tire out over the chips and lead you right into your den door. Now if you heat with something other than wood, then you may want to look into having deeper chips (8-10 in deep) I would suggest then leaving your tire under inflated, even if it gets a little squirrely it's not a problem because the gas solution will spread it out over the chips and press it to the den door again. Just like the book says: "If you have to get it through the chips, make sure its spread out over the chips, and pressing into the den door."
