A while back when I was in Brazil I noticed that shop assistants when wrapping a parcel they used a nifty trick to cut twine without using any cutting tools, just their bare hands. It looked like a knot they tied on the one hand and with the other with a swift tug they snapped the twine miraculously. Could someone please show a how-to ? Thank you.

They probably left a loop of the twin outside of the knot, tied the knot, then pulled really hard yanking the loop thru to shred the twine in that spot breaking it.

Its too hard to explain, but what they are doing is letting one string cut the other one. Practice and you will figure it out.
