I need to know if anyone can come up with an ingenious, yet inexpensive, way to hang a pot rack in my new apartment kitchen. The pot rack is metal and made to mount on the wall and is 36" wide. I want to put it up above my kitchen window, which is a little ways below the ceiling. This is not a pot rack that can be hung from the ceiling, it MUST be attached at the wall. My landlord doesn't want any holes in the wall, and I think this will be pretty heavy, as it's pretty heavy alone, and will be even heavier when I hang all my pots and pans on it. Do you think some kind of metal pegboard type of thing would work? Is there something that I could get that would be freestanding, yet unobtrusive that I could put around the window and attach the pot rack on top of it? I don't even know what I'm thinking, but I think there must be SOME way to do this without attaching it to the actual kitchen wall. . Please let me know your thoughts, they would be greatly appreciated!

We rent so we are unable to permantly change the conture of the back yard but the whole yard is sloped downward away from the house. We want to get an above ground pool and we need to have a level area to install it on. I thought about building a playform but I am not sure how to do it and make it right.

My boyfriend and I recently bought a basement flat in a building with two other flats above us. We're both smokers, but we don't smoke excessively - we don't smoke in the flat in the day time and smoke no more than 10 cigarettes between us in the evenings.
The problem is, our upstairs neighbour is complaining about smoke in his flat. Now this isn't even the neighbour directly above us - they haven't said a word. This guy lives two floors above us! He's generally a busybody and has complained when the people next door had a bbq in the summer. But he claims the smoke coming from our flat is so bad he's wheezing and feeling ill!
At first we were concerned. We bricked up our fireplace in case smoke was going up the chimney, bought a £200 air purifier to leave on over night to take the smoke from the air and we burn essential oils whenever we smoke to take the smell away.
But he's still complaining! We're worried we're going to get sued. Does anyone know where we stand legally?

My mom has been unemployed for a few years and she has been steadily collecting and recycling cans and bottles to keep ends meet. She keeps bags of them in the back yard and now some committee has sneaked around and took pictures and slapped her with a fine since this is the 2nd time. I have to figure out ways to help her keep her trash out of sight until she could sell them. I am thinking at getting some trash containers with lids for her, but those city committee could be real difficult and I am not sure if that'd be good enough. Does anyone got suggestions or ideas?

Of course "fastest" is relative since the whole family of oaks are slow-growing. We just bought our house a short time ago and are planning on being here for quite a long time (30+ years). I also have some related questions:
2. I have seen some oak trees for sale that are 6-8 feet tall, but their age is not mentioned. What age would you estimate them to be?
3. For some shade without the wait of oaks, I was wanting to plant some Silver Maples as well. What distance should be between them and the oaks?
4. I saw neighbors having trees planted last fall, is that the only time of year that is good for planting them? When are the best times of year?
5. We have about 10' of property behind our fence at the back of the yard. Is that enough space to grow these trees without encroaching on the neighbor's property? It gets plenty of moisture and sunlight there and there are no underground cables or pipes.

We live near St. Louis and so we are near the border between hardiness zones 5 & 6.

Hello Everyone:

I would like to know why do we keep getting cockroaches when our house is not dirty,it is kept very clean? Could anyone suggest something that we could use in order to get rid of them? Preferably,I would like something that works to keep cockroaches away and doesn't involve using toxic chemicals! Does anyone know of any natural remedies in order to keep cockroaches away? We have checked our house very thoroughly and we don't see any cracks or crevices that they can come in from outside! I just don't understand why we keep seeing these nasty creatures when we keep everything immaculate, keep our cereals, sugar, flour, etc stored in rubbermaid plastic containers,etc... If you have any advice or tips on how to repel cockroaches, please let me know! I know one thing for sure, cockroaches are just like rabbits, once they reproduce you can be guaranteed that there are hundreds of them hiding around the house somewhere! *Sighs with Frustration* :-(
