I need to know if anyone can come up with an ingenious, yet inexpensive, way to hang a pot rack in my new apartment kitchen. The pot rack is metal and made to mount on the wall and is 36" wide. I want to put it up above my kitchen window, which is a little ways below the ceiling. This is not a pot rack that can be hung from the ceiling, it MUST be attached at the wall. My landlord doesn't want any holes in the wall, and I think this will be pretty heavy, as it's pretty heavy alone, and will be even heavier when I hang all my pots and pans on it. Do you think some kind of metal pegboard type of thing would work? Is there something that I could get that would be freestanding, yet unobtrusive that I could put around the window and attach the pot rack on top of it? I don't even know what I'm thinking, but I think there must be SOME way to do this without attaching it to the actual kitchen wall. . Please let me know your thoughts, they would be greatly appreciated!

In theory you could have a stand made for it that would have legs that stuck out from the wall a few inches farther than the rack will so that the stand was "L" shaped. If the two uprights went on eith side of the window and had a cross-piece at the top you could attach the pan rack to that. Personally, I think your landlord is being a doofus. A pan rack would increase the value. If I had a tenant that wanted to do hang one in their kitchen I would offer to knock $100-200 off that month's rent in exchange for leaving it in place when they leave.

To hang it from the cieling is not very hard. You just have to locate the studs and hang it from them. You can buy a studfinder pretty cheap less than 20 bucks.

Once you locate the studs just use a coarse threaded bolt or heavy screw to hang it from chain.

All of which if you go to lowes or home depot they will help you make the right selections to get the job done

I have no idea- If you had some kind of frame around the window, you'd still need to attach the frame to the wall.... or are you thinking of something fee-standing? You'll want to make sure it's VERY stable...
