A cat will deliver the dead mouse to you and cost something like $100 a year.
I prefer a mouse bait that looks like green wax with grain inside it. The mouse eats the stuff, gets very thirsty, goes off to get water and dies there. Waterproof. Through it where the mouse goes, but put it where small kids, dogs and cats can't get at it, like under frigs and in crawl spaces

You buy a cat.....

No. Seriously speaking... you can buy these sticky sheets that have some kind of stuff on them that attracts the mouse. When it steps on the sheet, it'll be stuck. But keep in mind that you'll have to dispose of a live mouse stuck on the sheet....

You should get rid of it quickly as mice reproduce very quickly.... 21 days.... and usually have around 12 mice per litter.....

Sprinkle D-Con under cabinets, behind fridge, any source of water in the home.... This product is EXTREMELY harmful to family pets and children! Be sure if you use it to get it far enough back that only the mice will eat it. Mice generally come inside for food, warmth and water they will go back outside. The DCon dries out the mice. Sprinkle in your attic or under your home as well. I live near a lot of fields and have a lot of mice. I use it.. .. Just be sure to be looking for the dead mouse because if any other animal gets ahold of it it will get them sick... even though the mouse is dead the dcon is still inside....

You can use poison.

They make glue traps that you can use. It's just a piece of cardboard with glue on it. When you catch a mouse you just throw it all in the garbage.

How about a cat?

Be sure to check around the foundation for any holes where they can get in. They can get in to a hole as small as your little finger.

I don* know why you wouldn*t want to kill them , they are disease carriers, breed like flies, and chew up anything they want to use for their nests. If you get traps stay away from the glue things, they will get stuck and squeal all night long, and you still will have to dispose of a live mouse.

I take it you are not fond of cats ,if you were I'm certain this question would not have arisen, other suggestion, which is both easy & practical are the, glue baited boards, poison should be your very last choice.I faced this menace once but got lucky when my neighbor got herself a cat ,no further problem, haven't got round to thanking her yet .
