My existing light weight aluminum window grill is bronzy in colour and I want to paint it glossy white. I am looking through the nippon paint catalogue, would like to know what sort of paint can I get to paint it on my window grill? Not those metal stell grill, its those "hollowish" light weight aluminium quality grills.

My worries is whether can it be painted? cos Im afraid of the smoothness after i paint it when I try to slide it.

If you guys stil nto sure what kind of windows im talking about, do refer to the pics in the link attached bottom.

We want to knock down the garage to make the garden bigger. We'd still have room for off street parking but do you think it would be a mistake to lose the garage Do buyers want garages these days?

So...I'm sort of freaking out because I'm visiting my sister, and I thought it would be a nice thing to do if I washed the dishes. Except...I put the soap you use to wash the dishes by hand in the dishwasher, and I let it run all the way thru before I came back into the kitchen to discover that it had foamed up and oozed all over the kitchen floor. The kitchen floor is clean, but the dishwasher is still full of the soap foam. I have 10 hours before she gets back- Please help me clean it up. (There is no mop, there is no wet/dry vac.)

My father "thinks" he used tree poison to remove some trees. He also said he might have used something to get rid of white ants. We've noticed that the plants around the areas where the trees used to be either die, or struggle when their root system gets established. Getting it tested would cost too much for what it's worth, so we're unsure how to go about fixing the problem.

i'm more concerned about improving the quality of my soil rather than growing veggies - what should i do?

Also, it's been suggested we bring in some more soil and grow our veggies on a raised bed - is this the best solution?

I am looking for the name of a stove that only extended about 22-24 inches from the wall and it had slide-out burners for when you used them and then you could push them back when not in use and had double side-by-side ovens overhead and storage underneath for your pots and pans. My grandmother had one and I would like to see if i can get one like it. She died in 1989, so it was from before then and it was an electric stove.

Well, it turns out that for some reason the heater broke, and now the house is in the... (checks galileo's thermometer) ... less than 64 degrees!

Even in a large bundle of like 3 big blankets a sleeping ba and 2 fleeces isnt helping, along with sweaters and 2 pants!

So my question is...

How do I convince me parents to try to use the fireplace? weve NEVER EVER used a fireplace ever! The TV is blocking it, but we could move it. but its too freaking cold in here, and I bet its around 40-60 IN HOUSE temp!

They sit on my balcony and not only defecate everywhere, they make the loud courting noise that wakes me up every morning around 7am. Is there anything I can put out there that they are afraid of or hate the smell of? I wouldn't want to install some "no-landing" spikes, netting or such as the apt is a temporary spot for me and those things could be pricey. Thank you for any advice.

We live by a tree nursery with lots of open space. Every Fall when the weather gets cooler we set snap traps, baited with peanut butter, in our storage room to catch any mice which get into our house to escape the cold. We have sealed everything we can find and usually get a few mice per winter. This year, each morning when we check the traps, the PB is licked off and the trap is NOT sprung! I've read that shrews don't eat PB and voles are seemingly big enough (similar to a mouse) to spring the traps. Any other ideas?

It is my dream to start a homestead after I finish high school and college. I don't know much about nature, construction, or buying property, though, so I have a lot of questions.

1. Does the state of Michigan still permit people to build log cabins with no electricity or indoor plumbing?
2. Where can I find a very good farming book? I know how to plant things, but I do not know when to plant them, or what plants go best together. I also don't know much about herbs.
3. What sort of things would I need to drill a well?
4. How much property might I need to build a cabin large enough to house one adult, who may possibly marry and have a child, yet still be old-fashioned? Plus an outhouse, a well, a vegetable and herb garden, a workshop/shed, some fruit trees, and maybe an old junker to get to town.
5. How much money would I need to build all of that?
6. How long would it take to do build all of that?
7. What sort of thing might I study in college to further aid my venture?
