Can a 12 lbs. decanter break if on a shelf of 8 ft from the ground by closing a door numerous times?

I really need a accurate answer because my Aunt's and Uncle's decanter broke after I closed their door ,but they do not beleive me when i explain what happened.

Yes it's possible if you closed the door hard and the decanter shifted on the shelf.
