My Anti-static record cleaning doesn't seem to be removing the stains.
But then it is more for cleaning a record to eliminate static.

Ok, so ever since I moved into my apartment (about 5 months ago) I have been having to replace lightbulbs at least twice a week. Most of the time it was in this one lamp from Ikea, so I got a different one and a new bulb, plugged it in, and viola it burned out the next day.
Now lightbulbs aren't very expensive, but a couple weeks ago, the light in my monitor blew out too (luckily it was still under warranty). I called the electric company and they checked everything outside the apartment and said that it wasn't being caused by them. So I called the landlord and they sent out an electrician who came over today and couldn't find anything wrong with the outlets and told me my lightbulb problems were just a coincidence...
I don't believe him. So does anyone out there have any idea what may be causing this?? So far I've been lucky, but if my tv or something burns out, I'm screwed.

Long story, but I have a 277V outlet and I need it to be 110V to plug in regular electrical appliances. How do I go about doing this? I do not need to have a very high load on the socket, just about 5A or so. I need to do this economically and as you can tell by my question, I am no good at electrical work. I can plug stuff in but that's about it. Any links to suitable transformers would be appreciated
Thanks.

I have noticed an akward smell coming fomr my furnace. The heat company person came to my house and said everything was fine and he believes it smells like burning metal, but he is not sure what metal would be burning. We turned the thermostat on after he cleaned eveything out. Now he states he will report to my landlord that it is fine and he told me to run the heat for a few days while i leave my house and hopefully it will be gone. It makes me dizzy, but he states it shouldn't What do you think it could be?

I have had this mower(4.5HP) for years and never had any serious problems with it, until a couple weeks ago. It starts up, runs perfectly for 30 sec-2 min. then just quits. If I press the primer to start the mower it recovers, but then quits again shortly after. I thought it was a clog in my carb. or fuel line, so i cleaned all that stuff out, flushed the tank, new air filter-the works-but today it ran a bit longer but ended up doing the same thing and quit on me. I was sure it was some kind of problem getting gas to the carb since the primer gets it to recover, but Im pretty sure I cleaned just about everything I can before getting into the piston. I checked/cleaned the spark plug and it had some grey buildup on it, but that made no difference. Im at a loss here, and I know it can run since it gives me a good half minute before dying. I dont really want to completely dismantle it but unless someone has an idea, my weekend will be full of little bitty motor parts. Please help!!!

BOILER PROBLEM

2007-10-26 08:45:30 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

Husband wants to hire unemployed bozo friends to do it. Roof is about 650 s.f. Also needs to address putting in a couple of vents, what to do about the old gutters, dumpster rental, permit. What would be a reasonable ball park figure. He's probably going to do this no matter what I say, would like some guidance though.

I purchased a new vacuum a few wks ago. We have a new rug and there are fuzz balls all over the rug (I think from it being new). The fuzz is getting caught in the vacuum and the vacuum is not picking stuff up. Do you think this is caused by the rug being new or is it b/c the vacuum is a cheap piece of crap (about $60)? Thanks

I have soot in my house, roof damage from the high winds, and a smoke odor in my house from the fires in San Diego. The insurance adjustor is coming tomorrow (Saturday). I am getting quotes for fixing the roof, window cleaning, power washing the outside of the house, cleaning of carpets/upholstered furniture, dry cleaning curtains/bedding. What am I forgetting? I want to make sure that the insurance company compensates us for everything that I have thought of and everything that I haven't thought of. Help would be appreciated ASAP. I want to be prepared for the adjustor.

Ok so I live in a top floor apartment. My landlord took out our exhaust fan in our shower because it needed a new motor or something...but this was two months ago and she has yet to fix it. Now there seems to be black mold all over our ceiling and today I see water droplets all over the ceiling with like red drops inside of it..it's really weird..it's this a mold or fungus? Should I be worried and nag the landlord even more?

And don't say "it depends". I assume the blower is included. This would be for an 1100 SF cabin.

I have an OTR Microwave, less than a year old.. Right from the start, when I would cook something like a baked potato or a frozen dinner for longer than 4-5 minutes, the microwave would completely shut off. If I have a frozen dinner where the directions say to cook for 4 minutes then stir, when it stops after 4 or 5 minutes, the machine turns off and I am stuck with a half cooked dinner for close to 20 minutes until the microwave turns back on.

I was still under warranty when a 'repair man' came out. He said he would have to take the microwave to his place of work to fix it. But he ended up quitting on the job because he didn't want to uninstall it.
Another repair man came out and said it could be the sensors, but said if he replaced the sensors, it would work the same.. Basically, he didn't want to do the work. Nothing else turns off, electician said it wasn't a power outage thing.

The vent is installed properly, and I do leave the fan on, but it still happens. What can I do?
